An interesting thing the Black Dog put together, think it's your cup of tea.

Ta for that RD. Haven't had chance to listen to more than the first 20 mins yet but I'll have a go tonight.
Did you ever listen to that Noise-Heat-Power download that I posted a year or two back?

Great listen RD.
Took me back to my very brief encounter with The Limit in Sheffield. I was late getting there, going for the first time as a 22-23 year old in about 1990, not long before it shut down. Legendary place and you could feel the history of the Sheffield music scene in every sticky bit of carpet.
The music on that link is A1. In particular, Poison by Hula. I really tried to get into them in the mid-80s but decided that they were too much like hard work. But that track! f**k me, what a gem!. I really, REALLY wanted Chakk to be good round about that time, but this one blows them away. And it totally by-passed me at the time.
It's fascinating how the Sheffield scene mirrored the Detroit/Chicago scene, from the smooth, almost Motown-esque Heaven 17, later Human League and ABC, through the experimental proto-techno stuff from the Cabs, to the Warp stuff from the likes of LFO which were a British take on where House music could go.
More support to the argument that Sheffield was just a Tony Wilson away from being recognised more widely as the pre-eminent global music city of the 1980s.
