Today's quiz- substitutes

Six players have made 20 or more substitute appearances in all competitions in a season. Can you name them? NB. One of them achieved the feat on two occasions.

Two correct one not. Mark Wilson is the one that is incorrect.

Four to go. Will have to make these harder!

Still a great question TRB

I am thinking of either non first-choice strikers thrown on to get back in the game (like Guy) or Defenders/Defensive midfielders thrown on to shore up when defending a lead (like Wilson or Ravenhill). I don't think there can be many, if any, back in the 70's and 80's and maybe even 90's when there were fewer substitutions, so I am thinking relatively recently.

Sam Hird?

Adam Lockwood?

Mark McCammon?

Dutch- I expected Lockwood to be in the list but he isn't. Neither are the other two.

You're right though that all the instances have come about since we returned to the Football League.

What about the strike force that was going to change the world (but never worked together), then they spent their time replacing each other.

Paul Heffernan and James Hayter. I think Hayter lived on the bench for quite a while.

David larmour

David Larmour made 19 sub appearances in 1996-97. So it isn't him or any of the others mentioned above.

Of the above Theo Robinson is correct. He made 22 sub appearances last season, 19 of them in the League.

So we have three of the six- Ravenhill, Robinson and Guy. Three to go.

Yes, Kyle Bennett in 2011-12. He made all 21 of his substitute appearances in the League, which puts him only behind Ravenhill (22 League in 2003-04) in terms of League sub appearances. Two to go.

Made 18 sub appearances in 2002-03. Not him.

There's a very obvious one that everyone has overlooked so far.
