M18 J3 possible closure
« on August 04, 2015, 09:56:31 am by Donnywolf »
Leaving via J3 yesterday heading Thorne direction I spotted Yellow Signs advising of (possible) road closures in evening

I think in the split seconds I saw it I read "Closed evenings / nights for 20 nights starting August 4". This could affect the Leeds game of course

Can anyone confirm what I saw and what time the closure(s) start ?

Cheers DW

I live in Hatfield and i noticed more traffic than usual along the high street so it must have been closed last night.

Thanks for that.

Looks like ALL stretch between J3 and J4 is closed rather than just the slip road and both the Leeds game and Southend games will be affected

So its time to find a rat run / new Parking spot for both ! Probably getting there will not be affected but I imagine coming out and getting away will be for sure - even with the Traffic Lights to help !

I am presuming everything will come off and pass B&Q then towards Ground and up White Rose Way / Carr House Road / Leger Way and then West Moor Link Road to rejoin at J4 ? Does anyone know if that is what happened last Night ?

Cheers DW

This site shows no planned works on the M18 for the rest of August??

http://www.highways.gov.uk/traffic-information

Go to the planned works bit and select M18 and dates from today to the end of August.

The same site now says:

The M18 northbound will be closed between junctions J3 and J4, due to roadworks, between 8 pm and 6 am, from 5 August 2015 to 9 August 2015.

The M18 northbound entry slip at junction J3 will be closed , due to roadworks, between 8 pm and 6 am, from 5 August 2015 to 9 August 2015.

OK

Under 5 days to the next game. I can see the contractors have been at work on the M18 between 3 and 4

Has anyone got an idea of what the diversion is ? Also is it actually causing any mayhem because if it is to leave at J3 and come to White Rose Way then Carr House Road Leger Way West Moor Link Rd and back on at J4 it will surely impact on any traffic heading for Thorne Edenthorpe etc

I think that the slip road onto the M18 eastbound is going to be closed after the Weeds game has ended.
I usually go home via that route so if it is closed then i would imagine that the queues via the Dome and White Rose Way to Carr House road will be quite significant.

Thats the way I go home too, getting off the Motorway at the M180 junction, hope it's still open or it's going to be a ball ache getting home

There still seems to be a lack of info although I have seen 8PM is the closing time (see link) - but I still cant find if it is JUST the slip road or the entire stretch between 3 and 4 so I am SERIOUSLY thinking either :

Train Thorne North to Donny and return

OR

Park somewhere near Salutation walk and return and then go Thorne Road and left at Wheatley Hotel then right at Holly Bush

http://www.highways.gov.uk/traffic-information/

Enter Road - then select M18

This is what it says

"M18      Severe   The M18 northbound exit slip at junction J3 will be closed , due to roadworks, between 8 pm and 6 am, from 9 August 2015 to 14 August 2015.   More details."

So one would assume it's just the slip road exiting the motorway onto White Rose Way, so all will be fine for entering the motorway

I cant get the other link you sent a few posts ago to work but travelling home on Saturday there were obvious BIG patches done wand long stretches of new Tarmac

I see what you say about the Exit Slip being closed but the Signs are posted on the Entry Slip and I reckon that will be shut because a huge chunk of the Mway is being resurfaced

Your original info still looks good to me :

Jct 3 to Jct 4
Period    05-Aug-2015 to 28-Aug-2015
Effect    Moderate (10 - 30 mins)
Length    10745 metres

However we could do with some local perspective or failing that I will have to go look tomorrow !

When I went past last week it made it look like the whole road was shut from the a1 across.  I'll see what it says later on when I drive home

Great stuff ... it seems that it will be the whole lot but local intelligence obviously much appreciated

Shouldn't have to worry to much about the Weeds fans having trouble getting to and from the KMS, for most of them this is a home game.

OK Donnyites was the M18 blocked last night at J3 ? Was the traffic all diverted off towards White Rose Way ?

Many thanks DW

Well have we got s definate answer to this? If traffic is leaving the motorway at junc 3, white rose way could be gridlocked at full time tonight

In that case Filo it could be late home tonight for you and me, especially if it goes over the 90 mins.

Guessing it might be best me coming off at Tickhill and in that way rather than M18 if I'm coming from Lincoln?

Why don't you head to the A1 exit and go around and back onto the M18, if it's only the slip road that is closed?

That was what i was considering mate but it is my understanding that the carriageway to J$ will be closed as well as the slip road.

You won't get "chucked off at junction 3" if the EXIT slip road is closed, after 8pm tonight...
