club run by numptys
« on August 23, 2015, 09:35:46 am by acko »
not a word coming out of the owners or chairmans mouth,(are they in the country)even gavins been quite alately, are they happy with the situation do they want the football side of things  to drop like the rugby team, they have now been in control for two years and in that time the club has dropped like a stone and their only comment was all ryans fault, quick to make statements to say the rise from the ashes was as much down to them as well as ryan but the decline as all been ryans fault.they talk of the budget being one of the best in the league a load of b*llocks not bought a player since robinson, ryan kept the supporters informed and wasn't afraid to make the change when the supporters demanded it.thats what a good chairman should do be in contact with the supporters.COME BACK JOHN SAVE THE CLUB,RICHARDSONS GHOST IS HERE

Steve Wignall's demise wasn't handled quite so smoothly I recall...

The same John Ryan that came out and assured fans SO'D was safe and sacked him 24 hrs later? Is that the sort of clear communication you want?

Selective memory and blind faith. For the record I also thought SO'Ds time was up.

What a f**king joke OP!

The club is doing fine off the pitch - we have invested in decent players and Dickov said last week he could ask for loaners if he wanted them..

It is clear where our problems lie!

nobody said it was smoothly done but it was what the supporters wanted, the truth obviously hurts SM,but I suggest you take the blindfold off and listen to what supporters ars saying not just your little click,over76% wanted ryan back in the free press vote you know that one the vsc didn't agree with maybe another poll would show even more.

JR isn't coming back. He's in the past did a lot for the club, and deserves our thanks for that. However saying we need him back every time we lose a game is a bit much. Look to the future it's bound to have more good times

The truth does hurt acko, the unfortunate thing is you don't know what the truth is or what it was. JR with a hedge fund company driving the wagon is not what this club needed or wants.

...and it starts over yet again.

Can we separate the ownership from the management please.

In the close season we signed the best keeper in League One last season, the third top scorer in League One last season and in Chaplow, on paper, one of the best midfielders in League One, who has played in the Championship the last two seasons and the Premier League the season before that.

When Mr Dickov was appointed in May 2013 we were in the Championship. Since then we have been relegated, finished mid-table in League One and despite significant investment this close season we have yet to win or indeed score a single goal in the league (Forrester excused) - all without any improvement whatsoever to the dull, turgid and utterly lifeless football served up week in, week out, especially at home.

I just can't offer any clearer facts than these.

Are you praising dickov there for the signings or the board? Or both?

A competitive level of finance has clearly been provided. Dickov has manager has proved successful in selling the club to the players. Dickov has manager has proved unable this season as previous seasons to get the team playing to their potential - let alone like SOD, getting the team playing beyond their potential.

It's sad that some people are mesmorised by the cult of personalty and drugged by nostalgia. The sad fact is money, by and large, rules the game.

As BRR posted on another thread, JR jumped into the rabbit hole. If you know anything about black holes you'll know that what the person experiences inside there is completely different to someone standing outside.

No one is going to 'save our club' without any money. Only make it worse.

I would argue that there is some non-monetary value that a chairman like JR could bring - developing sense of unity among supporters, pushing management to achieve more, raising profile of club via media etc - all of which can prove significant.

In the end though this is adding marginal value, money is what matters.

True - and that is why it's a shame that the relationship between Ryan and the board did break down and that he didn't stay on as honourary chairman or a similar position. But that was surely his own doing in part - probably because he still had too much pride from once having full control of the club on a day to day basis.

In all probability the current board will consult with JR before making any decision

Why would they do that?

JR has gone and unless he gets a lot of cash won't be back. We should accept that.

This board has been far too patient in my view, however they've supported and are running the club well in many areas.

Acko is entitled to his opinion as we all are, even if the majority think it's shite. I too am a little bemused at the lack of communication coming from the club.
I suspect there are many who would love JR to still be here as Chairman, if for nothing more than his enthusiasm. SM wouldn't obviously, because he has an agenda with Ryan no matter how many times he chooses to deny it. It's obvious he knows something about JR which we don't and he's not prepared to share it and until he does the (silent) majority (see what I did there) won't believe him :-D
