Well the bookies didn't take long.... Jones 3/1
Redfearn 4/1
Evans 5/1????

Darren Ferguson 33/1 could be a likely contender

Edinburgh a good call, can't see him leaving the Gills. Redfearn for me. I wonder if the Wellens situation had anything to do with PD's sacking.

I dunno if one player influences the decision, if player power is that strong?

Can't understand why Steve Evans is 3rd favourite ... McDermott is at 12s but I'd think out of our wage structure

Please for f**k sake not Steve Evans.

I really don't want my little un seeing that flabby Kitson charging down the touchline after a goal. Would traumatise the bugger for life.

Neil Redfearn could come but he did nothing at Leeds without Steve Thompson and he is now at Preston.

Redfearn has only had 38 games as a manager prior to his short stint at Weeds so why is hie thought so highly of as our saviour?
Not having a go but genuinely interested in why.

Probably because he is an ex-player. They are often the favourites and preferred choice by most fans but I wouldn't want him. He could come as a number two or running the youth set up.

I don't understand the Redfearn buzz either. I'm guessing it's just about because he's rumoured to have been at a few of our games this season. He's not got a great record as a manager but definitely has pros when it comes to the kids.

For me Redfearn fits the bill because of

1. His sound coaching credentials
2. His footballing ethos of keeping the ball on the deck
3. The development of youth.
4. He understands the expectations of the fans being a local boy and playing for us previously.
5. He's available.

Sure, there will be other candidates who also have good credentials so I hope and expect the board to make a cracking appointment.

If Redfearn comprehends the expectation amongst sections of our fanbase he has one up on me. I don't know who we think we are! We have to realise that we're only a big club in Doncaster.

The people that think we have a right to expect we'll pay big money for all the best players and a Premier League level manager (Pearson - seriously?) are deluded. We can dream of course, but when that turns into disappointment (and in some cases disgust) that our level is to have reasonable aspiration of making the Championship, then something is wrong.

I won't go to the KM ever again if they appoint even one of this lot:

Stuart Pearce
Paul Jewell
Billy Davies
Nigel Pearson

So there! :)

McDermott at 12s - great price especially if Redfearn joins him as assistant! Now that I would be getting a tad excited over! And why couldn't we get McDermott, afterall Southend got Phil Brown - who is another i'd have a gander at!

Billy Davies albeit a bit of a knob is a decent manager.

Always liked Davies - bit of a character. Would expect he'd want shedloads of cash to chuck out on transfer fees tho - which may not be forthcoming!

Can I just ask why, Bob? Not saying I want any of those listed- far from it- but I can't think of any reason why they'd be beyond the pale.

Fatty Evans would be another matter, though...

I think Pearson will hold out for bigger and better opportunities, he does still live in Sheffield though.

Redfearn big favourite now on sky bet at 1-2. Must have been a fair bit of money on him in the last few hours.

Somebody on another thread put up Redfearn 's win ratio compared to Dickov's and I think the ex manager's was better

Lol Askern. I assume you don't understand irony then?
