Both now in the betting. Is this a new development or have they been in there before?

Oscar Garcia is an interesting one 50.53% win ratio, unemployed, had some medical problems last year and stepped down from being Watfords boss, maybe he feels ready to go again, interesting managerial experience too, Barcelona youth team boss, will have good connections in Spain

Me too. Both names impressive. Both roots with clubs renowned for talent. Garcia would be very good I feel.

I don't know how likely it is - probably unlikely I guess - but this would fit the "top quality applicants" and is a world, actually more like a universe, away from TLO Clark et al!!

Well this is a more exciting post to look at this morning!! If we could get either of these two that would be a real sign of intent from the board and would bring the fans back! Precisely what we need!

What a player Staam was. He's be coaching at Ajax I think? That's not a bad apprenticeship!

Stam has been defensive coach at Ajax most recently

Some clubs will offer the job while they still have a manager in place

Way we are defending at the moment, we could do with him just to sort out the defending.

Wikipedia says he's only 6' 3" but I'm 6'2" and I once bumped into him in the Hospitality Suite at Old Trafford... literally turned a corner and bumped into him.  Memories play tricks but I'm sure my eyes were at his chest height and I looked up...and up...and up before I saw who it was.  I certainly wouldn't mess with him

Realistically I can't see either of these two coming to us. Although Stam hasn't managed before I can't see someone with his past as a former world class defender of United, Milan and Ajax being interested in a struggling league one side.

Garcia is a maybe but I still think he would be a good candidate for most championship sides.

Sam would be a similar appoint to Hasselbaink at Burton i reckon. Cant see it happening in a million years though

Who knows? They are impressive candidates for sure. Garcia wants to get back into the English game and turned down an offer to be a Director of Sport I think, at Barca...

Look at Rovers from outside:

Great facilities.
A club that transformed itself in the last 13 years.
Significant potential.

Who knows what the Owners have laid out as a vision for the next few seasons, for the right candidate?

Yes, we need quick improvement, a change of mindset, and maybe new faces come January.

Garcia would be an immense statement.

Similar things were said when Jones took over and the main thing that has changed since PD left is that we are now conceding more goals.

To be fair though look at Stam's pedigree in football as much i love RJ5 theres no comparison they've all played with Rob none of them will have met Stam before would be different

I dont disagree with that, i actually think that we need a disciplinarian outsider to come in and shake things up.

I just can't see either of these? I can't see a great candidate wanting us, so far.

But wouldn't an incoming manager be more concerned about what he can do with the team, not was already been happening?

I would definitely like Garcia, Liked how he went about things at Brighton.
Stam also i remember one of his first games for united against Inter Milan, Zamarano turned on the ball, Their first contact in the game, And ran into him.
Stam didn't move a muscle just stared at him, it was a ''Welcome to the game'' sort of challenge.

Stam is risky because none of us know if he will be a good manager, like somebody else said he has had a good apprenticeship at Ajax, Been there a fair few years, And has said himself England is where he wants to manage.
