Sounds like dry January is not having a lot of effect on this forum!

Did it last year, though not of my own volition! Also did it voluntarily in 1997. Endured a miserable time and decided never again. Just have 2-3 days a week off the pop now.

It's better to do February as it's normally only 28 days.

I'm not a whiskey drinker.

I'm a whisky drinker.

Ah, you prefer Scotch!

Not solely. There's a few nice Suntory drops.

Thank you Seadog. As a whisky drinker (as well as cognac), I would like to say that the post seems to be talking about single malts, so please no more whiskey!! Sorry, but it's my headteacherly side coming out where spelling is important.

Maybe you need to check your spelling? WHISKEY is the Irish version. They also make malt whiskey too!

I notice that nobody has mention "Penderyn". For those who have never heard of it. It is an excellent Welsh malt whisky.

I think those that are interested all know that already. But as its not been going too long it's not the easiest drink to find. So not everybody will have your expertise and insight. Perhaps you could give us the benefit of your knowledge and describe it for those that aren't so fortunate as you?

Unlike some, I am not a drinks snob who can taste this or smell that b*llocks. I know what I like and know what I don't. Besides which I doubt there is anything I or anybody else could tell you. I am sure however those not in the know would value your knowledge.

Well this thread has given me an insight into why there are so many "forceful opinions" on this forum.

I guess that means you don't actually have any experience of Penderyn then? As I've never had the pleasure I was hoping you could share your experience. Silly of me I suppose.

You can get Penderyn from Sainsburys and Morrisons

Bugger. I usually shop at Tesco's! We don't get many Morrisons round this neck of the woods - in fact i only know of one and that's about 30 miles away. Sainsbury's - well I'll just have to go to one won't I?! Maybe I can give the low down on the stuff then in the absence of you know who.

Cheers :)

Wrong again. Probably the best way to describe Penderyn is that it is the marmite of Whisky's. You would have to try it to find out for yourself. I love it so I suppose there is your answer. Don't bother you won't like it.

So if you know the stuff why not give a simple answer to a simple question then? Cat got your tongue or something?

For Whiskey lovers,  have any of you heard of Wallace Single Malt Liqueur?

They stopped making it some years ago after they "lost"  the recipe. Tried for a couple of years to recreate it but didn't get it right so gave up. If you can find a bottle it goes for hundreds.  Someone on Amazon was selling what few bottles they they had left for £220 a bottle and they were going like hot cakes. If you look on the Whiskey connoisseur websites there are plenty of people waxing lyrical about it and how they only have half a bottle left and are saving it for very special occasions.

I have 2 bottles unopened that MrsRTRs grandad left us when he passed away. Don't know whether to crack one open to see what all the buzz is about,  or flog them. Lol

Neither Rob!! Put them away and keep them 'til you retire. They won't be worth a couple of hundred. They'll be worth thousands and thousands. I've got a fairly rare bottle of Lagavullin I've managed to not open as yet. It's value has gone up by a couple of hundred in 2 years. It's not all that old as yet but it's already worth quite a lot more than  think I can bring myself to ever drink :)

How can you 'lose' a recipe to a whisky???? Someone die maybe?

Probably the same cat who got your eyes. I posted earlier that I don't do the snobbery crap.  Or maybe you would prefer I say it has vanilla overtones and a taste of the peat dug from the Brecon Beacons. I know you have selective vision as you pick and choose your replies.
So move on and either try it or find some other subject to try and pick fault with.

Bob and Barry. The rock and the immovable object.

It's FA Cup day fellas,  stay on target as Red Leader would say.  (Sorry to shoehorn in a Star Wars reference.)

Oh! I thought it was you you were referring to about the 'snobbery crap'! And yes, I did spot your description in the reply you made after I, very politely, had asked you to share your knowledge after previously refusing to do so.  I hadn't realised a one word reference to Marmite was a serious description of a whisky you implied to are fond of. If you wanna be juvenile, go start your own thread to do it on. This thread worked really well when it was only the grown ups contributing to it.

So do something about tossers whose sole objective in life is to destroy then Rob. This was a good and interesting thread. Until a certain waste of space decided to continue his perpetual quest to destroy what others create. Why should you, me, anybody let fools like this get away scot free? I'll spell it out: that man is a total, utter and irredeemable waste of breath.

Perhaps some on this thread have been overindulging in their over priced moonshine to fly off the handle in such fashion?

Just because it's in a nice bottle and tastes of woodlice or burnt matches doesn't mean you don't have a problem lads. It's never too late to seek help.

Bob. You and Yorkie do not have to see eye to eye. However,  not everyone needs to read how the both of you can get under each others skin. If you prefer,  I'll just start deleting posts.

If you read my posts in this thread followed by your condescending replies. I would imagine most people can see exactly what you are.
I would also be interested to know from the forum moderators how your personal insults are allowed. Does this not constitute personal abuse which should result in being banned from the forum?
There is a thread posted by the forum admin to this effect on Viking chat so why is this allowed?

No,  it exists in the vain hope that people can actually put their differences to one side for just a few seconds and stop being Internet personas that they try to live up to.

Thread locked. . If I'm bored by this,  then so is the entire Western world.
