Alocated seating only cuses trouble and it juat makes for musical chairs and scuffling with stewards and fans

Its not allocated seating that causes the problems, its people not sitting in their allocated seats.

The simple answer is to do away with the seats!
the problem  is  with that they can't as it is the law

Someone best tell Burton and Fleetwood they're breaking the law then.

I thought that one of the conditions of Rovers getting one of their grants towards the Keepmoat was that it had to be an all seater stadium.
If Fleetwood or Burton went up wouldn't they have to go to all seater as Peterborough eventually did?

They get three or four seasons to replace the terracing.

Yes and yes. Some of the money came from the Football Foundation (essentially the PL and the FA) to build the Keepmoat. One of their inbuilt regulations is that they will only provide funds to new  stadiums if they are all seater. (they will be looking at this again though)

Burton and Fleetwood made the decision not to take any money from the FF. However if they are promoted to the Championship they will have to comply with current legislation within 3 years, which means all-seater.

What a total farce! It just defies logic. These grounds have tiny terraces that are repleat with crush barriers and are open to the pitch. What is the risk to anyone?!?!

And why does standing on a terrace suddenly become unsafe because you've gone up a division?

I hope i get a back row ticket. I would like to stand up and being a considerate unselfish person I would like to stand without blocking a view. I may also bring a small flag.

Got mine today. Asked for a seat as close to the back as possible. Got Row E.

Luckily I'm not an inconsiderate c*nt so I'll be doing what I do every time I go to Scunny and standing where I want, ie the back. Thank me later.

Its not illegal to stand in a seated area - however it will most likely contravene ground regulations. It is up to the individual club if they wish to implement those regulations.

That's a question we've been asking for years, which is the same one as why its not compulsory for other sports, just football. We're still waiting for an answer.

When I went to Scunthorpe away, possibly in 2006 (we were shite and lost 2-0) it was when I had family in tow including two under 10s.  I had to ask folks to move out of our allocated seats, so that we could sit together.

But when I go to an away fixture now, I'll sit in the seat on my ticket if I can, but if not, I sit anywhere.  A bit of give and take never hurt anyone..

The game where Brian Laws spat his dummy out and moaned to the referee that much, that we had to wear Scunny's black shorts instead of the usual red ones.

Wasn't that also one of O'Driscolls first games?

How that guy went on to manage in the Premier League is still a mystery.

It was early on in his employment. It was the tipping point for some who could be heard abusing him in one of his post match interviews. He also downplayed the importance of a derby game, which I think turned a few more against him.

I recall it was a wretched performance and the atmosphere was awful. Obviously that turned out to be a very decent Scunny team but some probably never got that performance out their system.

Does it really matter they are the same price tickets as our home games.
Putting money in our clubs coffers is better than Scunthorpes.

That performance was probably the worst I have seen us play in the last decade.  I haven't been to too many away games and missed only a handful of home ones.  Normally I don't resort to hyperbole and exaggeration when describing our performances when we are bad, but f**k me we were 100% pony that day.

Its not a law. Its a ground regulation. They are monitored by the local SAG (Safety Advisory Group). When you buy a ticket you agree to the regulations in force at that ground. Its a terms and conditions thing, but as always open to interpretation.  Notice how the Police never get involved in standing issues at football stadiums. Have you ever wondered why?

Its 'cos its not the law.

I'll discuss that with my mum who is as vocal as any 18 year old, has had a ST for years and loves nothing more than a good old away day -  unfortunately at 73 she can't manage to stand up for long periods of time due to arthritis and a dodgy hip. We're going to scunny, and given the choice, will try to get near the front but I'm sure she'd love to look at your arse for 90 minutes rather than watch the footie if the stewards insist on allocated seating!!

Last year we sat in the 2nd row and still had to move thanks to people standing at the front - I'm all for an atmosphere and think the BB is great and has transformed the KM atmosphere but a little consideration goes a long way!
