Yep..As I mentioned in an earlier thread where his then girlfriend sent the victim a birthday text..and Sunderland as well seem to think "They Can't touch us"

ALSO not yet mentioned he will certainly go on the Sexual Offenders Register... Which as the judge has already stated "Say goodbye to your daughter". He will probably have to fight through the courts on his release to be removed from the register...Albeit not fair on the baby but time will tell, the Child Maintenance should be good ...More problems for him, the silly stupid pratt..

He's already on the sex Offenders' register. It said on the news that that was the case the moment he pleaded guilty to the first two charges.

Margaret Byrne, the Sunderland CEO, has fallen on her sword. Says it was a mistake to lift his suspension.

Under age sex is a topic worthy of serious debate. I am completely fascinated by the collective vituperation towards Adam Johnson. The bloke is clearly a plank and clearly not in control of his gonads, but is he a nonce as well? What do we all think of Germany where the age of consent is 14? Romania where it is 15? Italy where it is 14? China where it is also 14? Morocco where it is 15? Argentina where it is 13? Brazil where it is 14? There are many, many countries around the world where it is less than our own 16. There are some where it is higher than 16 too.

So who is right? They can't all be right can they?

There is a large preponderance of the human race living with ages of consent below the age of 16. So how sure are we that our collective disgust at anybody and everybody who beds someone below the age of 16 is sensible, rational or even justifiable? Is 16 years minus a couple of days or weeks or months something to be condemned when plenty of countries have chosen to cut 1, 2 or even 3 years off that?

I know plenty of you are going to jump to the conclusion that I'm defending Adam Johnson. I'm not. Generally speaking I'm a pragmatist. You live by the rules in force at the time. Life is easier that way.  I'd probably have supported Hitler if I'd lived in 1930's Germany. Johnson didn't follow the rules. He couldn't control himself. He's a prat. But he's reminded me of a really interesting area of disagreement across the world. I'd like to know just how we can be so holier than thou about the age of 16?

Lol! I can see the apoplectic responses now :)

Personally speaking, for me the age is less troubling than the calculated exploitation of a naive young girl who clearly worshipped him. Yes, the law is different in different countries but that's irrelevant. Johnson was brought up in British culture with British laws where the age of consent is 16, and that's ingrained in you from a very early age, through school and society at large. What other countries set as their laws have no bearing on things whatsoever. He is a predator who knowingly preyed upon someone who he knew was vulnerable to him.

Hear hear MM. I completely agree. But generally speaking this country seems to fixate on age rather than predation. I think that's really odd.

Paedos under the bed sell more papers than a more complex analysis of the behaviour of a man raised in the billion-pound football bubble, sadly.

You have to draw a line somewhere Bob; what's wrong with 16? Where would you draw the line?
It's 18 here, but effectively 16 unless one party is in their 20's or older. I genuinely think it helps to keep the predators away, at least until an age where a child should be somewhat capable of making good decisions.
If nothing else, it gives the police and parents the ability to intervene and protect youngsters from a predatory situation.
The discrepancy I can't reconcile, is that almost everywhere you go, the legal age for consent, to vote, to drink, marry, go to jail, fight in the military, drive etc, are usually different. Surely, all those rights/privileges/consequences should be available (or apply) at the determined age for adulthood? The idea that you can do any of the above legally, whilst still being barred from another, is ridiculous.

Bob

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that in the countries you list, the low age of consent only applies to sexual activity between kids of around that age. It doesn't legalise sexual activity between a 28 year old man and a 15 year old kid.

Socially just laws are about protecting the weak from the powerful. Protecting the naive from being exploited. They redress power imbalances that occur naturally. This case seems to me to be a crystal clear one of a silly, naive girl being taken advantage of by an idiot who had power over her (in that she idolised him as a football star - I suspect the situation would never have arisen if he was a bin man...)

I tried to check that Billy. I couldn't find evidence to support it. Maybe I didn't try hard enough or look in the right places. It would be a sensible rule if it is in place - and it would seriously undermine the validity of the point that has been exercising me. I hope it is true.

6 years then

All sorts of other info coming out now too. Apparently he had a lot of very hard porn on his laptop including bestiality for which he was also arrested but won't now face charges.

Also, he had been browsing a website featuring images of young teens in non-pornographic situations.

Bit harsh, he might not be a very nice person but he's a decent footballer. There's certainly a lot worse players than him played for England a lot more times. Stewart Downing for one!

I've only just realised what your little pic is all about Jonny! Very nice. :)

And if Cussy has the Vikettes locked up in his basement, I guess there's no wonder we never see him any more....

I saw Cussy out jogging the other day.  I'm surprised he had the energy after his previous exploits.
