You're probably right, and in that sense it was technically still competitive but it's not great it is. Almost like they thought up the rules and format for this competition in a bit of a rush, call me cynical.

Everton,  Wolves,  Sunderland,  Brighton,  Norwich,  Southampton,  Swansea,  Reading and Leicester.

Our next opponents are from:
Everton,  Chesterfield,  Bury,  Oldham,  Sunderland or Cambridge.

They used this for years in MLS. Used to have a silver goal extra time and then a shootout.

Commentators started talking about penalties with 15 mins to go so it sounded like neither team looked like scoring.

They said it was a great chance for Etheridge to see what he could do. Well he can certainly dive in the opposite direction and end up as far away from the ball as humanly possible. That's worrying.

The match seemed surreal as if they were playing a friendly or a practice session and with the Black bank singers silenced for much of the game the the atmosphere was dead ! Noticed on drfc websie the attendance was given as 1495-think they counted the players,staff and cars in the car park to arrive at that !
I dont like the competion and shall not attend any more even if we get to the final ,much as i want my team to do well and to give the young lads a run out but that was not a match of substance to watch .
