Best Ground/Worst Ground

This question came up on my Facebook feed.

Worst Ground I've seen the Rovers at has to be QPR, overpriced and the concept of legroom doesn't exist.

Best (read favourite) is Burton. Modern terracing, and one of the few places I'll happily buy food inside the ground.

Best is very much open to interpretation, but for value comfort etc, I would say Brighton ( Amex ) and I really like Derby county.
Worst would be as Swinton Rover says QPR, and I would add into that Brentford.
The latter was slightly balanced out by some bloke getting a rather late late goal if I recall and making me forget I'd got no circulation in my legs from being rammed up against the seat in front...... Now who was that ?

Depends very much on the atmosphere and the importance of the match, as well as stadium comforts..

Worst for legroom for me was Luton, and the "concourse" in the away end at Bramall Lane is way too small for the stand capacity.

Best?  other than Wembley, I would probably opt for Saltergate, I liked the oldy worldy grounds...

Best - derby/brighton always good - very decent modern grounds! Worst - difficult really - a lot of the worst grounds have been replaced! Never liked going to Burnley - always seemed to be a cold autumn evening! I think it's upped it's game there over the last 10 years!

Maybe it's least favourite as opposed to worst?

Depends how far back we are going. Halifax, Newport and Crewe pre modernisation of the grounds.

Hull City = The best. Fill your boots with the atmosphere from the stands.

York City = The worst. Fill your boots with the six inches of piss from the bogs.

Morecambe was pretty naff the other month, especially to say it's a "new" ground. Probably still above the likes of Stalybridge and Weston though.

I echo Brighton as the best I've seen Rovers in, that was fantastic all the way through.

My first ever away game that 11 years after my first home game. Yes you're right. The noise outside as I walked up I thought it had to be 20000 Hull fans, turned out it was us. Ever since then I think out away support has gone downhill. Only because that day it was so good.

Chester in the conference play off semi final was alright from outside. Then i got a seat that was just round the corner from toilets that stank and the tea bar was next door to it. They had one woman serving on her own for a semi final.

They ran out of pies about an hour before kick off at Chester. Now something like that should be grounds for a points deduction!

The best two grounds in the country IMO, if you want history, atmosphere and a sense of tradition are either Hillsborough or Anfield. Never seen rovers at Anfield obviously.

I don't get people saying Brighton. Apart from a few rounds of 'Albion' there weren't much atmosphere when Rovers played there and queuing for a train to get to and from the stadium is tedious. Any decent football ground needs to have a sense of geography to it - that it belongs to the people and the place.

As for worst, Accrington's really is tinpot. Portaloos for bogs, no atmosphere. Thought Leigh's old ground were alright.

   Best ground was Old Trafford mainly because everything was run like clockwork and the atmosphere on the day was brilliant...I know its a different world but they really know how to maximise there product....

   Worst ground has to be Chester,awful ground,unfriendly people and shocking facilities....

The Best Ground I've been to by a country mile is the Westfalen Stadium in Dortmund.  Transport is spot on.  The food is good and reasonably priced.  There is a massive terrace behind one of the goals and a smaller one at the other, which lead to an amazing atmosphere.  The stadium itself is beautiful and in touch with its history with its immediate predecessor next door.  Well worth a trip just to hear 80 000 mad Germans singing you'll never walk alone.  at night there's no where better to watch football.

I enjoyed Halifax in the rain especially l the famous trophy  night, getting in amd and out was always memorable too

Watching the Rovers-
Worst league grounds- the Shay and Springfield Park and the temporary side stand at Bloomfield Rd.
Worst non-league ground- Holsworthy(Joma Cup farce), Hallam and Runcorn.
Best league ground- Hulls KC Stadium, MK Dons and Upton Park for atmosphere.
Best non-league ground- Kidderminster, Boston and Workington

Got to be Newcastle then the millennium stadium/Worst Oldham  on a rainy boxing days couple of year's ago, both Sheffield grounds are piss poor and need updating
