I don't think he slags off his hometown so much as some of its inhabitants, particularly those that refer to him as a Kitson.

Christ I slag off doncaster at times as no different to likes of grimsby
hartlepool,margate,Barnsley,Coventry,barrow in furnace, fleetwood
Etc etc

Only difference is that Doncaster is my shit hole unlike grimsby and our shit hole is much better than their shit hole.

I think deep down most are jealous or upset that clarkson had made a buck or two

Should have just been called "Finningley" IMHO..

Then again, given the naming convention of some UK airports I am surprised it isn't called "London South Yorkshire"..!!

Though it is technically in Auckley

The Portuguese island of Madeira has just renamed it's airport the 'Christian Ronaldo Airport'. I propose that Doncaster/Sheffield be renamed 'The John Marquis Airport' :)

I'm quite happy to see anybody from anywhere earn money. I don't like Clarkson as a person from what I have seen and read.
Just because somebody comes from your town doesn't mean that you have to like them.
Read any thread on here that mentions Donny Whites.😉

Lindsay Strutt the page 3 with massive talent. Was with Martin woods for a while as well. To be fair I'd be injured a lot with her at home waiting for me.

You know what Wilts, i always thought that was true.
However if you look at Wiki and search on Thomas Crapper it says that the flushing toilet was invented in 1596 by John Harrington.
( Yes i do know that Wiki may not be 100% true).
Mr Crapper wasnt born until 1836.

We have TWO great opera singers:

Dame Janet Baker CH DBE was born in Hatfield, Relatives worked in Bentley pit
Lesley Garrett CBE from Thorne

Just thought I'd raise the level of the debate!

To the best of my knowledge Crapper popularised the flushing toilet, rather than invented it.

From what understand queen Victoria was sick to her back teeth of the sewage and smell of shit on the streets of London as al your number ones and twos just got launched out into the street back then.

She asked mr crapper to fcuk off back up north and come up with a fix > > > mr crapper came up with a flush system and the first sit down bog with a flush system was installed into the shithouse
Of a Doncaster hotel.

The owner of the hotel had £ £ £ signs in his eyes and charged all and sundry a penny to use it > > > hence the sayings ' ' spending a  penny  and going for a crap '  came about

does mean the Virgin Rail rumour was just that, a rumour??... not that it matters as long as the moneys coming in....

Not yet. This isn't a shirt sponsor. This is just one smaller sponsor like how Man Utd have official noodle partners and official tractor partners.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else but the training top that Ross was wearing on Friday to warm up   in had what looked like the Virgin Rail logo on the back just under the collar.
