Have I missed Rog "Cockney" Cotton on here. One of Archies gang back in the 60's. Last saw him at Coventry away a few years back

Jeff the punk

Would that be Jeff bull by any chance ? If was allways within Charlie's from Thorne company.

Don't think he goes rovers anymore ,but I could be wrong .

Sure he now lives down south somewhere now.

Jeff lives in Kent now, tried to tempt him out for games at Gillingham in the past but never showed up unfortunately
Bully doesn't even come up to hang round with us at Donny Punks events or gigs. Doesn't go rebellion punk fest with our punk gang either. I know he met Charlie one point last year when he was up in Donny at lep,but didn't meet rest of Donny punks for some reason unfortunately
Think Chris Barker is still quite close with him

Great thread i missed this first time round. I spent my youth in the Popside then moved to Main Stand in the little pen between the tunnels for the Conference years onwards  (I can't quite remember how when or why i swapped!) - one thing the move to the Keepmoat did was to throw all the cards in the air and leave you with a new set of (permanent!) neighbours.

Rare I attend now and when i do its in the family stand with my boy, but at the Accrington game last season saw the old bloke who used to sit on the end of my row for my season ticket seats in the West behind the home dug out, he was always there first and had to keep standing up to let everyone in. I’ve never spoken to him but we shared a silent nod of recognition. It’s those interactions (and the relationships in this thread) that make clubs at this level special.

Saturday Santa was my abiding memory of my first few seasons at Rovers, followed by Mick Largent (RIP) and the noisy bunch in the middle of the Pop. Mainstand memories were the aforementioned Sturdy, Carl Jennings and the gang between the mainstand tunnels at BV. There has always been characters you had your own name for or knew to listen out for / avoid eye contact with.

I turned out for the R'sonists a couple of times in the early years, would be good to know they are still going, aforementioned Tisso & Nathan B, also Alan Brown, Dave Millington, Greg & Ade Sill, Paul Burton, Matt Smith, Rob Woodmansey etc. One particular highlight was playing Retford Branch in a 'friendly' at Cantley Park, Retford were taking it seriously and Mick Largent got sent off for kicking Matt Smith (several times i remember) for which ref John Coyle got dogs abuse and refused to continue.

Does anyone know Paul Bird and how he is getting on? Used to work with him in Sheffield and spent many hours talking Rovers when I should have been working.

Carl Jennings....That's a guy I owe a lot to....

He caught my arm, and held it very firmly, as I was about 18 inches away from lamping somebody in the Park Hotel. I was so angry I wouldn't have stopped at one either. So, Mr Carl Jennings, I haven't forgotten  and I'm still super grateful

BobG

PS. The guy I almost  smacked was my brother in law. Peace finally broke out about 17 years later!

He certainly had/has a way with people. I used to run a Rovers website and I naively used a local photographers photos without permission. He came on threatening legal action. Carl had a word and next thing the photographer sent me hi-res versions for me to use FOC :D

If you ever see him, please, say hi from Bob Gilbert... and I haven't forgotten! Wasn't he a prison officer? Or did I make that up?

BobG

PS. Keyser. Did you once help me set up a website back when Firestarter had provoked folk into action? If it was you, your initials will be AS and you lived down south back then.

He's had to pack in the triathlons due to injury unfortunately.

Bob - I'll drop him a message telling him to view this thread. He was a prison officer but I believe he has moved on from that now.

Thank you Muttley. I appreciate it :)

And Keyser,  I didn't want to publicise his name without at least knowing he's ok. Glad you worked it out. Were you running 'Keegan Was Crap Really'?

CBCB: If you happen to know any contact details, or even details of Andrew's online moniker I'd appreciate sight of them. He's someone else I owe thanks to. That anti Richardson website wouldn't have got off the ground without his advice and support.

Some day this!  Two very significant names from more than 2 decades ago now.... I hope they're both ok.

Thanks chaps. Good thread and good memories.

That rings a bell. I heard that he'd emigrated to Australia after that I think?

R’sonists are still going, although only me (Matt) and AB are still around.  Tisso occasionally joins the chat in the WhatsApp group though.

I remember that game (and the bruises) well - I could still play a bit back then!

Hope you are well.

It is nice to see some names from the past.

That season seems so long ago now. Crazy to think back to the pitch invasion against Hull, RIFA and the Colchester game feeling like the last one ever for DRFC. Strange days for sure.

Hope you are well Bob, it’s been a very long time. You and your Dad were very kind to me back then.

I'm ok ta.OIder, greyer, slower but surviving. You don't  have links to Milton Keynes do you? I'm curious as there's a district there called Bradwell.
