This possible pre season tour to Thailand
« on February 13, 2017, 12:55:38 pm by not on facebook »
I can't quite get what knock on effects rovers hope to get out of a pet season tour to Thailand.

I get that the kit manufactures are from that neck of the woods

But for sure no locals in that area will have not have any interest what so ever in DRFC,never mind heard of rovers since we're not in the premeirship.

Can't see what good the team will get playing against the type of kitchen sink football played against rovers and how will it help rovers
in the next season?

How will this friendly raise the profile of the club?

Rovers are far better off getting games against likes of Newcastle ,Sunderland at KMS as they will allways bring a large away following.

Going to Thailand didn't do Leicester any harm last year did it?

That might be the case Keith ,but that still don't help us with why rovers are looking at having a pre season in Thailand .

I must be missing something that the club is seeing .

I could understand if a team like man utd went out there to push their brand and shirt sales due to fact there is a market for MUFC out there
I guess ,but I can't see a market for DRFC ?

Leicester city have a connection to Thailand as the owners of LCFC are from that country
which was sole reason why so many club shirts are sold out there with them winning the prem last
season.

Rovers win league two > where is the market platform from that in Thailand

It raises our profile out there and it may be part of the shirt deal and possible funding from FBT.

it's just a rumour that creeps popping up about the Thai's getting involved with the club...it could be nothing but rumour for all we know...
As for the Thai tour,if it happens it will benefit Rovers more than a odd game against a premiership 11 that I'm sure, because Gavin is pretty Savvy about these things and if the senior management think its worth going because it will raise our profile and add revenue streams that last longer tha a couple of afternoons at home... Then I'm all for it...

Personally  stay at home. Nothing to be gained IMO - also I think that it is all right having many Partners within the club structure but Why mend it if it ain't broke

To be fair Bally without knowing the conversations and the reasons why they are considering going...Nobody really has the information to know wether its worth going or not...like I said if Gavin and the board decide it's worth going then there will be a good reason why it is....

Gavin said at the recent meet the owners night that the tour to Thailand would only go ahead as long as it didn't affect the football preparations, ie they wouldn't necessarily be going just to chase the Baht!!

If rovers were in a relegation battle in whatever league division would
this so called pre season to Thailand be on the radar ?

I think not tbh ,which keeps making me hit a brick wall about the positives if should tour take place .

I still have a open mind on the subject as Iam wanting to be convinced ,but if we was a championship team I still not see the positive of such a tour.

The team may do a training programme in Thailand?. Hot weather and humidity would surely improve players fitness quicker pre season than it would here?. Think Plymouth went to Spain last week for preparation for the Exeter game.

We'd struggle to be in a relegation battle in preseason to be fair.

Yes - not a problem with that but we may be a League two team at worst or a newly promoted League Two team at best.

if we're following the Leicester model can we open a book on which members of the playing squad are going to, errr "do their bit to foster closer relations with the locals" out there ?

Swain. Me too as i will likely be at home then in Mindanao Philippians. Very easy for me to get there. Quite relishing this prospect. better than a away at Oldham.
