Bill Shankley said to Don Revie
Have you heard of the Famous LFC
Don said no I don't think so
But I've heard of the Belle Vue Boot boys

I thought it was slightly different  but might be an age thing...

Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankley
Have you heard of the north bank Highbury
He said no I don't think so
But I#ve heard of the DRFC

Possibly as managers changed the chants did?

He's fast,
He's Scouse,
He'll rob your f***ing house
Greg Blundell!

We hate Nottingham Forest,
We hate Liverpool too,
We hate Rotherham United,
But the Rovers, we love you!

And my favourite:

Forever and ever, we'll follow our team
We're Donny Rovers, we are supreme
We'll never be mastered by you Southern b*stards
We'll keep the red flag flying high,
Flying high up in the sky,
We'll keep the red flag flying high,
Oh when the Rovers win the league, we'll keep the red flag flying high.

Harry Roberts is our friend, is our friend, is our friend
Harry Roberts is our friend, he kills coppers

Shoots the bas**rds with his gun
With is gun, with his gun, Harry Roberts!

Usually sang when a line of coppers walked along the popside

Filo. I dont know if you were around in 66 when Roberts shot three unarmed cops. It was just before my time, i was but a three yr glint in my fathers eye at this point. Roberts, was of course released infamously in 2014 having served 48 yrs in prison, at the age of 78.
How times change though. I'm not so sure his actions, if committed now, would gain any support in 2017.
He was lucky in 66 as he was convicted of the murders just 8 months after the abolition of the death penalty in the uk. He was told upon conviction that he was lucky to escape the noose.
The song used to glorify his name is of course embedded in terrace culture - and has been for years. But just think about it for a moment. He killed three men, aged 25,31 and 41. He was about to commit an armed robbery when officers approached him. He had been convicted of numerous others also.
I suspect there is many a young 'un sings this without any knowledge of the history behind it.
This is sad.
I, like him, served my queen and country for 14 years in the armed forces.  Since 1999 i have served my queen under the same uniform he chose to murder.
rtid.

I was n't gloryfying anything, just recalling a chant from my youth, and yes I was around, all be it only 3 years old

Murder me
Murder me
He is the Yorkshire ripper
And he's going to murder me
If my memory serves me well this one started with

She wore, she wore, she wore her red suspenders
She wore her red suspenders in the merry month of May
Oh why, I asked, she wore those red suspenders
She said they’re for the ripper when he comes to murder me......

Nothing to do with Footy but it got under the coppers skin
