west stand?
« on April 04, 2017, 10:23:10 am by southwestexile »
I usually go in the East Stand with my 10 year old but am thinking of the West Stand for a change as the East Stand atmosphere can be a bit dull at times - any thoughts?

The West stand (South end) is where all of us who know everything about football go. If you feel qualified to frequently give loud verbal advice to Darren Ferguson in times of need as well as constant dogs abuse to the linesman and the opposition's left back then you'll feel at home.

I must warn you though that there are the odd numpties who haven't got a clue among us.

ha ha, appreciated

I think I'm looking for unwavering positive support with the odd grumble

but most of all, atmosphere

There is usually an atmosphere near where I sit - at lest that's what my Seat Buddies tell me !

Two of your 3 requirements would be met right on Half Way where we have a good time good banter but whether that qualifies as "atmosphere" I dont know.

In the West, you'll find unwavering grumbling with the odd positive support.

All the right requirements, but not necessarily in the right order.

I'm level with the south end goal line, about 3/4 of the way up.

In an effort to stand up for the East Stand. We constantly have the pearl of wisdom shouted out for many years now of " WEKUP ROVERS". This little beauty of encouragement must be working this year as the players do appear awake and not in a state of sleep walking. Although I was always under the impression that you shouldn't wake up sleep walkers but it's never bothered this chap.

You will be treated to commands of "Pull it", "Squeeze it" whatever that means. Never heard that before taking my seat in the West stand. A vey friendly bunch though and no bad language where I sit.

You are very near then. I sit in G538.
An aisle seat more or less in line with the goal line.
You'll probably hear me berating the Lino most games with the standard we get. Mind you talking to my Bradford City mates they are never happy with the ones they get either.

If you shout at the linesman regularly you should do the halfway line seats then he could "get it" at both ends of his run.

I'm bang on 18 yard line J572, the lino doesn't half cop it from there.

If you are switching away from Family stand take into account the loss of activities for kids in the concourse and the very different  language used in the two stands .

If you see a bloke sat with his lad, throwing his arms about and swearing at the players and officials............... that will be Harrogate Rover.

I sit next but one to the left of him!

well, by the time I got to buy the seats there wasn't a lot of choice so I've gone back to the East to get an elevated view.  Maybe I'll get in earlier for the Exeter game

Not much choice?
That sounds promising from a ticket sales point of view.

Throwing his arms about!!
I bet he complains about Andy Williams doing the same thing.
