Saturday Afternoon's key fixtures (April 22nd, 2017)
« on April 20, 2017, 10:11:37 pm by les@donr »
Easter Weekend didn't bring us much needed points, so now onto this Saturday. The Key Title fixtures are:

Colchester vs Plymouth

Portsmouth vs Cambridge

Wycombe vs Doncaster

It would be nice if Colchester give Plymouth a tough game, and we can get something at Wycombe, won't be easy.

With you on this one les. A win at Wycombe is a must really to keep the title hopes realistically alive and if Colchester help by beating Plymouth it would literally be in the bag.  :rtid: :clapping:

Don't exaggerate. Losing at Wycombe isn't going to end our title hopes, it wouldn't even knock us off the top unless it was a battering both there and in Colchester. It would dent confidence but we don't need to win to keep our title hopes alive!

We lose on Saturday and Plymouth win big then the pressure will be on us big style to win last 2. All I am saying is a win tommorrow would certainly put us in the driving seat irrespective what Plymouth do - better going into last 2 games needing 3 points than potentially 6 IMO.

Have you forgotten Mach2man that we're three points and massive goal difference in front of Plymouth?  As Nick says, you're grossly overstating the case.

I understand where hes coming from.
Yes we are in a brilliant position and quite rightly the bookmakers have us odds on to win the league.
But if we do lose tommorow and Plymouth win then the pressure will be on us big time and the players will almost feel Plymouth breathing down there neck.

We really could do with a win tommorow.

There is often more pressure on the hunted (us) than the hunters (Plymouth).
I also see the point Mach2man is making.
If the lead is down to goal difference by 5pm on Saturday the pressure will more likely be greater on our players than theirs for the last two games.

That's a perfectly reasonable description of the situation hound, it lacks the exaggeration of Mach2man's post.

At the very least we have to match whatever Plymouth do, it will keep the 3 point gap with one less game to play. I can see this going to the last game.

Ideally tomorrow we will better Plymouth's result, and could be either 4, 5 or even 6 points clear..

Then it's all about winning vs Exeter.

Agree, but when have Rovers done things the easier way?

We will see how things look at about 5pm tommorrow. The results we all want to see are Rovers win / Plymouth lose. If that is not what we get I am sure a few nerves will become evident as we will go in search of potentially 6 points from last two games to secure the title.

There is pressure on us, but there's equal if not more pressure on Plymouth.

The goal difference is such that we need two wins from three games to be certain, whereas Plymouth need to win all three and hope results drop kindly for them. The pressure is therefore more on Plymouth than on us.

Irrespective of what Plymouth do tomorrow, a win for us will make that title a lot closer.

Whilst i want us to win the league as quickly as possible, part of me hopes there's a little bit riding on the Hartlepool game now I've managed to get a ticket.

It might be a game more important to the Poolies than us.

Am i right in saying sky will be showing a league two game live on the final day?
If so,with how its all shaping up I'd say we've a pretty good chance of being picked.

Grimsby have got nothing to play for so as long as Hartlepool are in the fight, if the title race is still on as well we'll surely be picked.
