Monkey Hangers sack Dave Jones

So Jeff Stelling got his wish. Hartlepool have sacked Dave Jones and his assistants. Matthew Bates in charge for the next two games.

Yes, the same. He seems to have dropped like a stone since showing promise as a young manager initially.

Dabbling with a kid was the allegation.

At Southampton I believe but it was not proven nor the decision challenged. Good enough IMO

Probably sholuld know, but I thought Rob Jones was on their coaching staff up there. I appreciate he's injured, or had he left. Anyone help?

He's still there as a player but hasn't played since injuring his knee in January. Billy Paynter is also out injured and won't play again this season.

Thanks for that.
Interesting that they don't use him on the coaching side, yet turn to Billy Paynter. Weird one.

Yes, just in case they miss last min penalty against us, he can tell their forwards where to stand and go on to score.  :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

Odd, clubs usually wait until we've beat them before they sack their manager.

Spoke to an old mate yesterday who lives just outside Hartlepool. He told me if they get relegated this weekend most of the fans are going to boycott their last game. Anyone else heard this.

I've not heard this mate but I wouldn't be surprised. They've had a pretty terrible season and must be at the wits end to be honest. Not only is Hartlepool one of the coldest grounds I've been to but it's also one of the scariest too. If there are any Rovers fans going in the home end then the fewer home fans there the better I guess.

Totally agree with the coldest grounds. Once went up there many years ago, they had a very large hole in the side of the ground where the wall had fell down. When the wind blew off the sea I can honestly say it's the coldest I've ever been at a league game. Wasn't many Rovers fans up there but every time I see those penguins huddled up I think of that day.

Never been to Hartlepool but surely can't be any colder than Oldham can it?

What's the boycott for? Would it be just because of relegation? If so that's pathetic.

It can believe ma. I have been 3 times and because it is right on the sea front its cold !

Grimsby can be bad Hull City in the Boothferry Park days was b-a-d as well and as you say Oldham. I went one Boxing Day or thereabouts 30odd years since and I have just got over it !

I once froze half to death watching Rovers one Friday night at Telford's old ground. Big open barn of a place that was. I don't imagine it was like Hartlepool or Grimsby but it was still chuffing cold. tell you another one: Hednesford Town. Half way up a hillside at the north end of the Potteries that first season in the league. Another open ground that was chuffing freezing. They got relegated that season I think.
