A Little Perspective
« on April 29, 2017, 09:25:12 pm by bobbymax »
Automatic promotion was the target so job done and in double-quick time.
Yes, disappointing that we've dropped off in the last few weeks but the hard work has been done.
There is certainly no need for the reaction on here and in other places about blowing the title. Medals are nothing more than mementos at the end of the day and no-one will give a toss who finished first, second or third in the league below when the new season kicks off.
I'll bet every single Hartlepool supporter next week would trade places with us. Relax and enjoy the summer!

b*llocks logic, that. "We've f**ked up but I bet some other people would love to f**k up the same position because they're doing worse."

Fair enough, promotion was secured comfortably and i would've took that at the start of the season for sure but that doesn't excuse the fact that we've collapsed at the end of the season once again.
Its not the end of the world but its certainly dissapointing, and its another title that has got away from DF,telling that he has never won one.

We might still do it,you never know i guess, but i cant see Plymouth slipping up at Grimsby, although i do think we will win.

Andy Butler summed it up - disappointing to lose but going up at first time of asking is marvellous. Just look at how long Plymouth and Pompey have been stuck down in this league

For once since Butler has been here  I say he talks Bullshit, he is looking for an excuse. They have blown it (That is as of today) who knows what will yet happen) It has changed from "We are going to win this league we all want to be champions attitude" to "ah well, we DID get promotion first time though" Utter and complete Crap......
It is no wonder DF has not won a title (as yet)

Interesting to note that since gaining promotion, Brighton have lost both their games too. I'm just glad we got promotion early to take the stress away on a Saturday.

Whilst yesterday was disapointing, I was at Colchester and Wycombe. This rot has set in weeks ago. Its like we achieved promotion then the foot off the gas......

I think it's a case of we were never as good as we thought we were.

We were when the first eleven played, since injurys we have failed to show our full potential.

Can I add that winning the title wasn't much of an obsession for any of us I don't think, it was Ferguson who (fair play to him) made it a priority to push on and get the silverware. Since he said this we have been risible.

I take the point about injuries but aside from Houghton, I think we have been very lucky this season. Only him and Baudry out.

It wasn't it's just disappointing. But if it's done one thing it's made it clear that Ferguson will probably make more changes than he may have done 4 weeks ago. Our players did well by earning the right to win this season. Since promotion I feel we look like we play too arrogant without that will to win. Plus Ferguson has struggled to pick a balanced side for a while. It all adds up to a bit of a mess.

Knowing us we'll probably win it next week, it's the Donny way.

Thats my view too. Up until about 3 weeks ago i thought we were outstanding, the frailties have crept in now and it shows.
I think there's a big overhaul needed in the summer. I would be offloading a few.

Yes if offered we would have gladly have taken automatic promotion BUT it's not about that is it ... what sort of team folds its hand what we had the championship title in its own hands . DF realistically thought his team had enough about them to see it through .

Well imo DF needs to look at little harder at the team and start to see what we see and that it is he has too many average players who can't raise their game beyond their abilities to improve .
Copps has been this year giving 100% and lead from the front .
Others like Williams & Grant have been just relying on their team mates to get them over the line , others like Mandleson &May  been thrown in when needs must and have relished the  chance . League 1 is a hard league but we've been here with a worse squad and won that League on that last day , but that squad under Dickov was the worse squad ever .We can win next week but it should have been in our hands and all the players know that it's up to them to justify being offered a new contract . We got promoted but it feels like we've done how lost something and this feeling will persist until we start the new season . DF imo should bring in 5-6 players and ship out all the dead wood and build a squad of keeping us up and challenging beyond .

We never won League One under Dickov if that's what you're saying? That was Flynn/Saunders. Dickov came in after promotion and took us backwards for two and a half seasons.

I have to disagree that winning the title wasn't important to most of us.
We have been in such a strong position for such a long time that we all expected it.
Personally, I had an 8/1 bet before the season that we would win the title and that looks unlikely to be paid out on now.
