As I understand it, as police are trained to shoot to kill by shooting at the body; there's more chance of hitting and incapacitating the target. However, if there is a chance they're wearing a bomb jacket, would the instruction still be to shoot at the body? Is there a chance a bullet hitting it might set the bomb off? Or would they be told to shoot for another part of the body with less chance of hitting the target? Just wondering.

Loose any chance of interrogating them, finding out who their contacts are, and letting more undetected highly dangerous people loose in our communities - brilliant idea!

Has anyone seen the video of the copper being brought down and stabbed by those three terrorists?

He was lucky to escape with his life.

His colleagues moved in and shot them dead.

Although they were "only armed with knives" as bobjimwilly has argued it was a situation where lives were being lost and shoot to kill had to be the option.

Even if they had been captured and interrogated who can say for sure that any evidence could have been extracted from them that would have been beneficial to the authorities?

As i and others have said, we then have to keep them under lock and key until they die or worse still, ISIS capture some Brits and demand that we give them back their men in exchange for the Brit hostage(s) otherwise we have to see another of those dreadful beheading videos.

If ISIS capture British hostages the last we'll ever see of them will be footage from ISIS' cameras.

Shot to kill policy is only way forward

Look at how effective it was with the French armed police man the other day .

This is for A > bang > drop > dead > no court case no human rights no prison no tax burden on France.

I could be wrong wilts ,if so it not be first or last time ,but they did shot him whatever way .
I thought the attacker was being treated in hospital? They didn't shoot to kill.

Nope that's just left wing propaganda...

There is a difference between shooting and shooting to kill. Surely even you can see that.

TBF mate, it would be a big coup for a group like ISIS to get prisoners released in exchange for hostages wouldn't it.
Much kudos to them if they got say, the UK to bow to them and get this type of thing done.
It has precedence in the world of terrorism.

Not disagreeing with what you're saying, but after that Alan Henning affair they strike me as the type to hang onto people and toy with you then slaughter them when you think you're making a breakthrough.

Yes I've seen the CCTV footage, much respect for those firearms officers, wasted all three of them within seconds of jumping out of the car. The car was still moving down the street driverless as he had also jumped out. A very impressive responce and having split seconds to make the decision.

It's a shame now that the officers are suspended from duty while the IPCC investigates

Bang on Filo and that is why many police officers are not wanting to carry firearms because there are people who are keen to see someone arrested for murder when they were only doing their job.
