But to get there, it'll be smaller in every year between now and then. So the effect on our national wealth accumulates. and will continue to accumulate into the future, unless somehow we get a huge boost to our productivity. Which no-one at all is predicting. Those figures are talking about how much poorer we are going to be than we'd thought just 9 months ago. But 9 months ago, we were already accounting for some of the effects of Brexit. The predictions from 9 months ago were also far worse than the predictions from before the Brexit vote. If you add that in, we're looking at the economy in 2022 being something like to £70-80bn weaker than we'd thought it was going to be, pre-Brexit vote. And that is then going to be hard-baked in going forward.I am at a loss to understand what those who still support Brexit need to see to make them face up to this. It is an unmitigated catastrophe. All you get is head-in-the-sand "experts don't know what they are talking about - these predictions are never right." They are right of course. The previous predictions WERE wrong. They were far too optimistic! The long term consequences of Brexit are actually looking much worse than anyone thought even 9 months ago.
Theresa May is more driven by self preservation even than Cameron was. He was guilty of being naive in the extreme, believing the British public would never vote leave. She's sticking with it in the face of knowing that to do so will ruin the country and the futures of 95% of its citizens. Because to reverse it would see her binned off by the loony right of her party.

Are you for real Sporty? ...at least the Tories would spend it wisely!!! Great Western Mainline Electrification - projected cost £874m - final cost £2.8 billion. Hinckley Point C construction - initial budget £8 billion - current projected cost £50 billion. New aircraft carriers with no planes. HS2. National debt nearly £2 trillion. You keep telling yourself how well the Tories will spend public money and whilst our schools, hospitals, roads, railways and other public services get ever more delapidated and living standards fall, the nice little earners for the directors and shareholders to stash away in their tax havens will keep growing.
Wilts give over mate Hms Queen Elizabeth was a labour baby.
Trouble is there are planes, currently 13 of them, in the US training the pilots that will fly them off QE from next year. Also currently the QE is not an HM ship it still belongs to the builders as it is going through builders sea trials. It will become a HM ship in the next week or so when it is commissioned. Aircraft trials on the ship start in 10 months time and is due to be operational some time around 2020/21.
