I think Gillingham got a pretty late goal too.

I was pleased with my £73 return for a fiver, courtesy of Blair and two late goals at Stevenage. Bit of Karma in that Charlton getting beat in the 94th minute v Oxford last week let me down for £850. However, that win puts it into perspective. Good effort from whomever it is as inevitably one result lets you down.

I still go to the bookies and do the fixed odds coupon. I keep thinking I might be better off joining the cash out, online, revolution but just enjoy the old school sitting and pondering in the bookies

I'm old school physically having to go to the bookies to put my bets on, I don't want an account or to be " in play with Ray ". A good mate at work has at least 6 accounts open, admittedly he only uses 2 mainly, he gambles most days on them but very rarely backs teams to win, just the amount of goals in a game, over 1.5 etc. I've done this the last 2 Saturdays and for an 8 team accumulator for £5 it's paid roughly 6/1. Also if you're looking for goals go the Dutch 2nd tier that mainly play on a Friday evening, 19.00. I think they must play "rush goalies ".
With an account it too easy to start betting on matches because your bored without studying form.

It was the over 1.5 goals that Blair's goal brought up for me. I think it was an 11 team accumulator' roughly paid out 14-1. I too have just had this bet the last two weeks and the first week I was waiting on  either of Luton or Exeter to score in their game that eventually finished 1-0. Was about 10-1 and I think I had 12 teams. It's not a bad bet and you always think you're in with a chance

I tend to avoid Scottish leagues but there seems to be plenty of +1.5 goals games in that league.

I agree about not wanting an account.  My local bookies is in danger of closing and yet there are a lot of people (mainly old blokes) for whom it is a bit of a social event on a Saturday. Be sad to see that human interaction fall victim to online accounts.

As they say, when the fun stops...

.... and its something else affected by "our advancements" as Bookies only became legal in May1961 - existing "underground" for many years beforehand

Then it must be only 10 to 15 years ago when they were allowed to openly advertise and indeed open up the windows allowing you to see what was going on / who was in there - and now they have harnessed the power of the Internet and Apps and you can bet from here there and anywhere.

Becoming like Banks - and perhaps the only difference now is the Bookies can act like mini Casinos with their Roulette and other machines and provide a place for that side of their clientele to subsidise the rest of their Bricks and Mortar operation

I had a dabble online but much prefer going into a bookies.  They are pretty old school and locally owned over here too!  Its mad on Grand National
