New manager options
« on February 14, 2018, 04:52:38 am by godlike1 »
Chris Powell
Gary Monk
Brian McDermot
Steven Presley

Bloody hell, have to say I’m struggling other than looking at clubs with managers already.

With bigger clubs than ours also looking for managers this won’t be easy

I fear we will have to come put up with DF and his bildge of football a little longer, esp as our club are so slow and clueless to act

Gary Monk has basically stated that he doesn't want the Barnsley job as they are to small, he feels he can get a top Championship or lower Prem. Unrealistic for us.

Powell has just taken over at Southend.

Not sure of any reason why Hurst would leave Shrewsbury for us without giving him a big transfer budget...which wouldn't happen.

To be honest, I don't see Ferguson leaving anyway at the minute.

This is Players not putting a shift in and forgetting that we are why they play . DF is as frustrated as anyone , No ONE could have seen this coming. I think the air would have been blue yesterday and training  in the sub zero temp’ will be required to just to get back to norm ‘.

I don’t want Fergie to go but I’ve always touted Jack Ross for our next gaffer. Favourite for the Barnsley job now though. I’m on at 18s.

Current St Mirren manager. Got them playing some lovely football and going to get them back into the Scottish Prem after being bottom and in disarray when he took over last year. It’s a big step for him into the Championship I think but Barnsley aren’t a big club are they I suppose. I’m not 100% sure he will go there even though I backed him. They are speaking to him but I wouldn’t be surprised if he declines any offer. May be wrong though.

Stuart McCall?

As realistic and solid a candidate as there is out there.

Excuse me Paul Hurst left Grimsby Town for Shrewsbury Town who will have a bottom 6 budget in this league and who were the bookies favourite to finish bottom before a ball was kicked this season.
Yes if they don’t go up he might be tempted to come to Rovers. We are a much bigger club than Shrewsbury.
What he has achieved so far this season has been nothing short of astonishing and brilliant and just shows with a playing method and organisation allied wth team spirit what can be achieved.
Any one remember Dean Saunders team of 2012/13 with a little help from Brian Flynn of course.

I would go for the Accrington manager If I went for anyone other than Fergie that is. Or would fans accept Dean Saunders back?

As you know from our discussion on the coach last night Brian, I would have him back quick as I could get him here. In fact I would go and pick him up myself and bring him here. I would eve claim the fuel costs from the club either.
By heck it might not be pretty but he would sort them out. 4-4-2 and everyone would have a defined role in the team. No tinkering, happy players great team spirit. BRING IT ON. Trouble is he wouldn’t come back to us, well I doubt it anyway. Would need to give him a contract till summer of 2020 on good money I reckon to even get him remotely interested.

Filo I hope you are right, but the crowd's reaction last night was not the best, and if things do not improve the pressure will crank up.

The crowds reaction when we lose and put in a poor performance is never the best, it's what fickle football fans do. A decent win on Saturday and those same fans will the singing Fergies name

George Boateng sounded very knowledgable on talksport the other day. Although I think Ferguson dropping the 3 at the back system would be the best all round I still like him.

I don't expect that Ferguson is imminently to be sacked. He has done a lot of good work.  The recent performances are a real problem and he has to stop the rot quickly.  He has got a lot of fair reasons for there being an issue.

Equally if I was the owners and chief exec I would be putting feelers and a small contingency plan in place.  They would be foolish not to. He will have targets and have to meet them. Ultimately us fans don't know what they think but they'll have thoughts.

You could also say they are very forgiving, which is a better attribute than being called fickle.

You could say the same about Gary Neville but he ended up struggling at Valencia.

The time for forgiving is over imo. How much more time do we give.
13 games left. Do we wait until there is only 6/7/8 could be almost fatal by then. Is it a risk worth taking? IMO now is the time for action.
A new voice in the dressing room needed. Has to be Wilcox as a caretaker manager. He is already here and knows the players and has managerial experience in league football. Could have Redfearn as a temporary assistant/coach as he is already here with the Belles.
He I am sure could combine both roles until early May. He is an excellent coach in a different league to Stachan. No comparison imo.
We don’t want to rush into an appointment and get the wrong man.
In the summer there will be far more suitable candidates available than at the present time.
