ah well, looks like I'll have to get sprawled out on the settee in front of the fire watching Jeff Stelling while sparing a thought for all the mugs who are out in this bloody horrendous weather.
Nanny state.
If the Scunthorpe v Oldham game goes ahead tomorrow, and our pitch was fit to play, it makes one wonder who has actually called the game off. If the Lincolnshire police are happy why not South Yorkshire, it would lay a lie to being bothered about traffic on the M62, and away supporters travelling. I am not saying the game should be played, just wondering what the difference is.
I received an email from DROS at 14 40 saying game off I then get one at 15.27 as a news letter saying Ferguson looking for a reaction against Bury on Saturday and telling me about a food bank collection at Bury game.!
That proves what I said earlier, if we really wanted the game on, with the forecast for tomorrow of only a chance of light snow, we could have played. I cannot see the EFL thinking that Scunthorpe can play, but Doncaster Cannot, so it must be either us or the Police, and it looks like we have put a lot of work into trying to play. Makes you wonder about how hard Scunthorpe wanted to play when they cancelled at the last moment the other season when the pitch looked OK.
At least it was called off with plenty of notice. Having said that if Scunthorpe goes ahead some questions need to be asked. All the perimeters to the stadium have been cleared. So is the problem the M62 and the Bury team and supporters travel? I don’t buy all that nonesence on that statement announced.
