Problem is the m62 is still closed and the routes to the m1 from Stockport are closed as well at the minute with no sign of them reopening

A quick jaunt down the M6 to Stoke and then across to the M1, where theres a will theres a way

What makes me laugh is that the Premier league games seem to always be on. Do their players & supporters use different (safer) roads & footpaths to those in the lower leagues. If the pitch is playable & the surrounding infrastructure is clear then the game should go ahead.

As on the BBC website just now, only 11 10 EFL games are still on..

No complaints about it being called off from me, did n't fancy freezing me nads off anyway. The complaint I have is with SYP, the club get staff in to clear the pitch, and they get contractors in to clear and grit the surrounding areas and then SYP advise to call it off on safety grounds, a lot of expense could have been avoided if SYP had just done that from the off

Then you would of just had people moaning we never made an effort. Can't win either way really.

I agree. The club could have just waited for most of it to thaw, as it will in the next few days.

That proves what I said earlier, if we really wanted the game on, with the forecast for tomorrow of only a chance of light snow, we could have played.
I cannot see the EFL thinking that Scunthorpe can play,  but Doncaster Cannot, so it must be either us or the Police, and it looks like we have put a lot of work into trying to play.
Makes you wonder about how hard Scunthorpe wanted to play when they cancelled at the last moment the other season when the pitch looked OK.

Scunthorpe is on. The game that was called off two years ago was down to an over-zealous referee. Scunny were livid about it and complained to the League.

There was no point making an effort if SYP were going to call it off anyway, SYP should have made their concerns known before the club spent money clearing the pitch and stadium footprint

I went to Keadby on Thursday, there was nowhere near as much snow there than there was around here

At least the car park will be safer for the car booters on Sunday now, so not all a waste

Scunthorpe actually had more but it melted quicker it looked ok around their ground yesterday.

To be honest, I was driving around the Doncaster area yesterday, the roads were clear and the pavements looked ok, I don't see what safety issues the SYP are concerned about

I think it is a SYP issue because they had the Blunts game off very early. Maybe they don't want the overtime this weekend.

That said, I'm happy it is off because if not I'd have had to dig my car out!

It wasn't solely a SYP decision though. Im sure it said 'in consultation' with the local SAG who would be the key decision makers.

Selfishly of course it suits me as I'm out of the country and would have missed the game.

I bet Scunny are really chuffed that they made the effort to get the game on today, :woohoo:

I totally agree, Graham. At 3 pm this afternoon, most of us were probably bored stiff, and wishing that the game was on. However, as I've said in other threads, with our lack of defenders, and Bury's good form, we could have possibly lost, which would have meant two successive defeats, one win in twelve, and a tough trip to Southend coming up. Instead, we've got a full week of training to come, and maybe some players back. I think we may have dodged a bullet today.

It's also another game for Bury to cram into their busy schedule. Rochdale's run in is going to be horrendous, not that I'm complaining.

ah well, looks like I'll have to get sprawled out on the settee in front of the fire watching Jeff Stelling while sparing a thought for all the mugs who are out in this bloody horrendous weather.

... and just think if things go incredibly well for your Super6 selections you might get 4 Points !

Should have kept my trap shut as my 2 lines yielded 7 each as did your 1 go !

Any idea or inclination as to when the rearranged fixture with Bury will be?
