Stag do Europe
« on April 18, 2018, 08:19:49 pm by mushRTID »
Evening chaps

Been given the honour of best man duties and the stag would like a European stag do early next year.

Just wondering where everyone has been and how they rate please?

The usual suspects Amsterdam, Prague, Hamburg, Krakow, Budapest all coming up and no idea where to start...

Cheers

Probably no good me commenting on a Stag do but just though if you searched those destinations on here we have "hammered" them in the past and I am sure there will be references to Stag Do's

Heres Krakow

https://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=264937.msg754704#msg754704 Krakow (well one of the many Threads)

Budapest was very recently "done to death"

https://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=265558.msg766923#msg766923

Prague slightly older

https://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=258128.msg645162#msg645162

I would look at Riga Tallinn and especially Vilnius !!! Never been to Ljubiana but by god I have heard good reports

Good luck !

Never been Hamburg but all the rest are great for a piss up. Amsterdam has the Heineken tour as well, something to consider.

Prague, Krakow and Budapest, it's like spending monopoly money it's that cheap in comparison to some cities.

Munich is another worth thinking about imo but that's probably at the other end of the scale money-wise.

Done Prague/Amsterdam/krakow with the mrs just unsure how stag do’s would go.

Prague seems his favourite but we’ve read a few bits about the locals not liking stag dos and bars turning them away! I’m sure that’s just odd incidents though.

I went in a stag do to Amsterdam, but you need to be on one of those theme nights on the ferry

Amsterdam can be an expensive weekend away and I think is over-rated; I would look at some of the other suggestions

Another option might be to look at what destinations WizzAir fly to from Donny and book one of those; it'll be cheap in January.

Brings me right back to Tallinn Estonia Riga Latvia and Vilnius Lithuania then.

All brilliant for me but cant speak from a Stag perspective !

I’ve been to Prague 4 times, I don’t think it’s great. I always like Germany, go to Berlin or somewhere like that. Miles better than these Eastern European haunts. If you are set on Eastern Europe though, Bucharest in the summer is ok. Plenty of bars, clubs and strip clubs/ brass houses.

I went to Prague on a stag do. It was a great weekend. Very surreal up to an including being offered a midget granny hooker.

I had my stag do in Berlin and it was awesome, would definitely recommend it. I think we had 22 on it though and they weren't keen on big groups in some of the bars so we just had to split ourselves up a bit. Hamburg is another decent place in Germany. No idea how but when we went we managed to blag ourselves onto a Holsten brewery tour alongside the German army. Bit of a weird afternoon that one!

Budapest is another good one, been there twice on drunken weekends and it was great both times.

If you want something a bit more refined I've always enjoyed Madrid. Brilliant city and really cheap too, I prefer it to Barcelona.

I agree with Gaz on Germany. Berlin is great, afternoon refreshments in Hackescher Markt if sunny should leave you wobbly. Also Dusseldorf and Koln (Colonge) are good, watering holes all pretty close. Cultural wise Seville is nice.

Went to Düsseldorf 2 years back, one of the best weekends we have had. Loved Germany too, Berlin or Cologne may be worth a shout

Prague isn't cheap anymore, but still good. I like Germany, Munich is expensive but good. I haven't been to Berlin yet, but that's next.

We cracked on and about 4am we staggered into this lap dancing bar...To find my dad and his mate rat arsed in the corner...lol

Düsseldorf is very good, went to watch Fury Klitscho. Lisbon is another good City for a piss up as well.

I enjoyed Riga as well, the women are phenomenal.

Riga intrigues me Gaz, my impression of it is it’s quite small.

Are there plenty of bars?

Ye, we found plenty to do there. Expected it being a dump, was quite the opposite.

I loved Riga and (you were right - it is small ish) and here in case you have not seen it is a useful guide including te Night life

https://www.inyourpocket.com/riga/nightlife

It is quite a way from the Baltic despite being a Port but if you get chance a short train ride and you can be there on the Beach in no time. It is now very classy as was the cetntre of Riga itself to be fair

Dublin everytime for me! Expensive but absolutely fantastic for a weekend drinking.

When I went to Hamburg we did not journey much from the Reeperbahn which is one of the most disgusting places I have ever been, so wouldn't personally recommend it.

Been told Gdansk not bad as well and flights from Donny - again probably cheaper than most mentioned already . I would give Budapest a wide berth in January and for a stag do . Nice to take your lass in the Summer though and did that last year .

Remember going to Riga and doing the old tourist bit, had a map getting bearings and realised the map was nearly full scale. Very small town
Got to agree with Gaz re the women but I was taking a sausage roll to a buffet

I’m going to Dublin on Tuesday. Going to the Punchestown festival (racing). I’ve been about 10 times and had a good time every time.

Donny isn't bad for a piss up stag do, think of how much drink you could have for the cost of a plane and hotel 😆

I think similarly on Donny Races especially St Leger Day. Why pay £80 or so to get in and just get hammered ? Some people dont venture out to even see the Horses / Races and just watch it on Telly so why not stay in a Pub near to wherever you live and spend the £80+ on good beer with a great view of a Telly

(anyway nowt to do with the Topic but supporting what you said above)

I’ve got a gang of mates from Ireland that have gome over for the Grand National every year for 20years and never been to the course.
