He was ok in League 2. Had a bit more time on the ball. Struggled more in League 1 as people forced him to play quicker. No great loss him not coming. Also he had the chance to sign but turned us down. I'd want a player to show more commitment. Not this "I'll sign if nothing better turns up" attitude.

Rumour has it that his soon to be wife didn’t  fancy committing to living in Doncaster on a permanent basis at the time. Goodness knows why.

I’ve lived in Bessacarr and Cantley. Ones one side of Bawtry road and ones the other surely.

I grew up on the cantley side of bessacarr. My parents back garden backs onto the old sycamore school, cantley bus stop at the end of the road, cantley library round the corner yet for some odd reason it’s bessacarr

I reckon its an aspirational thing.  A mate of mine who lived on Somerton Drive (parallel to Bawtry Road on the Cantley side) always swore it was Bessacarr.  We on the Bessacarr side always thought he was a Bessie wannabe!

What I want to know is, does Cantley Acres still exist?  In the mid '70's I lived on Stonecross Gardens at the bottom of Goodison Boulevard, back when the Barratt Estate was all fields and I was always told that we weren't in Cantley, but Cantley Acres

Technically St Wilfreds was neither Cantley or Bessacarr it was classed as Rose Hill.

I don't know the name, I'm afraid.  We were only there for three and a half years from 1976 (when I was 6 years old)
