They aren’t shit, but today’s result was to be expected playing a team that lost 144-0 to York and many other hammerings

The Dons are a very average team in the 3rd tier of the rugby league. 306 people turned up to watch them. Is there a future in that?

Weren’t they supposed to be in super league by now??? I think I could 15 blokes out of Asda to beat most of the teams in that league

I’ve just had a 24 hour ban for stating my opinion lol.... it’s a forum gents, some agree and some don’t it’s simple, what’s the point of an open forum if you can’t express your opinion and have some banter???..... yes some of the stuff said is tongue in cheek ie the banter but banning people??? Wtf...

I thought it was for unacceptable language?

The low crowd today was because it was played at fetherstone and not the Keepmoat.... the dons arnt doing as well as hoped this season but are only 2 points off 3rd. Still plenty of time left to ensure they have a chance of promotion come the end of the season.

I'd back 15 men against 13 too.

This season the Dons must be the ultimate form team or Bellwether in that League. If they play one of the stragglers they win comfortably. If they play a fellow mid-table side they either win or lose narrowly. If they they play a top side they are well beaten.

You can almost predict the result before every game. Next week they are away at Hunslet, another middling outfit and I would expect there to be little in it. Hunslet maybe to shade it by 6-7 points.

That said, when I watched the Dons in their  "Another Bloody Sunday" days at Tattersfield I never expected I'd see the day they'd run in 100 points. So huge congratulations are in order.

That's 306 people that are interested, at a level that supports the top level of that game, like non league football supports league level football.
That is the point of second tear sport, entertainment such as amateur dramatics, not everyone can be excellent at things, but they can aspire to be, enjoy themselves and take part.
And people like Rovers and the Dons supporters can get enjoyment out of following teams at the lower levels, because a sport attracts lower numbers does not make it less important.

My initial point was that I cannot see them continuing to exist in their present format. Unless they get extremely good rates to use the Keepmoat then I doubt they can ever be financially viable.

The money they get from the RLF ( around 75k) wil more or less cover their wage bill. 90% of players are only on between £100-£200 a game. Then add Gate recipts, sponsorship etc etc... it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to run a rugby league club. It would be a lot cheaper to get the dons in super league than it would be to get rovers into the championship

I've followed the Dons and Rovers all my life, I don't get why there seems to be a small minority who just want to pull the other side down. At the end of the day both teams are representing Doncaster in their respective sports and the same club now for that matter. Every time a thread comes up on here about the Dons you get a couple of comments about the pitch and a couple about the poor crowds, bore off 😴 It's like when Donny Whites go on about Rovers' poor crowds, get Chuffed off!

I don't get the impression that anyone is mentioning the Dons' crowd numbers in a derogatory way, but just as a point of fact in a discussion about their realistic ambitions. And no-one's said anything negative about the use of the Keepmoat either. And I certainly haven't seen anyone trying to 'pull the other side down'. Have you read the thread?

If that is the case then fair enough. I take my comments back.

I have read the thread yes, there are no comments about the pitch, that usually comes around August if the pitch doesn't look like Wembley.
I was talking in general, reading past threads. There seems to be Rovers fans who want to see the Dons fail and visa versa. I don't see the point, it's petty.

Yesterday's game was at Featherstone. They are back at the Keepmoat in a fortnight.

Why was that? is it to do with the pitch being relaid or something?

Yeah was due to the Keepmoat pitch being relaid. The athletics stadium was out of use too. Last time I looked the pitch on their was like a sandpit

Retdon that's why I asked the question, I am not one who thinks the RL ruins the pitch I just didn't think it was ready yet

Only one way to get to the super league hights and that's go full time. And make the push with a decent squad of full time pros. Need backers to make the initial gamble to get them there then once there the club can begin to build for a consolidation in the league, but I don't think the present owners will take that gamble. When the Don's did get to the top division they were attracting some good crowds.

But wasn't that because most of the attendance was made up of fans from the away team?
