Is he as good as some of our youngsters we would struggle to get £50 quid for?

Wouldn't pay £7.50 for him. A little boy in a man's game too many times last season.

he's quality, Ferguson never got the best out of him.
he was easily our best player at the Emirates.
he'll go on to have a hell of a career

He has gone from one of the biggest clubs on the planet (UAE cash) to an also-ran in a third tier league. Sometimes you need to feel comfortable to progress and moving home might help him but that is one hell of a drop.

It's a step UP for him.
NEVER going to get a game for man city, he's gone to the eredivisie, will play regularly, and probably get called up to the national team.

Yes, but if Boomstick is right, ( the manager bit I agree with) we did not exactly use him in his best position.
He made 2 or 3 of the best assists for goals last season, putting it on a plate for someone in front of goal from wide right.

Normally I would agree with the comments saying he's not worth anything like that..Howevever after saying I would personally drive Brian Deane to Sheff Utd and  predicting that Gorgeous George Friend would never make a first team left back at Boro..I might abstain...lol

He was never good enough for us, maybe this move will be the making of him?

I’ll predict he will be a regular in a top flight division somewhere in Europe in 3 years.

The Eredivisie is completely different to any level of English football. It’s more like watching women’s football. It definitely suits developing young players. He’s every chance of kicking on.

There's one thing for sure, it makes the reputed £750k bid for Marquis, look absolutely derisory. Also, if Peterborough are indeed asking for £6.5m for Marriott, then why wouldn't JM be worth, at the very least, half that amount?

I am sitting on the fence with this one. I thought at times (few) he looked class. Most of the time he looked a bit light weight. Saying that you don’t get a contract at somewhere like Man C if you’re as shit as some on here would have you believe. You’ve got to have something.  He never really got a proper look in last year.  He was a bit part player. Hopefully if he got a run of games he may develop. Let’s give the lad a chance. He’s skilful enough. It’s whether he’s got it in him

He had plenty of chances at our club but was out of his depth in the cut and thrust of League 1, he's got a lot of growing up to do.  He had no positional sense, could not tackle and his only effective contribution was a couple of goal assists.

He played great for us at Arsenal because they allowed us to play football; it was the cut and thrust of league 1 that was too much for him.

In his first interview with Herenveen he describes himself as a box box midfielder

It has been said on here that some of the young players were scared to death of Ferguson.
That could possibly be what was wrong with a Kongolo.
He always seemed to want to play the safe, easy ball and never wanted to take responsibility and try to use his undoubted skill and pace.
He looked very good when he first played for us but after a short while became a shadow of that potentially exciting player.

It made me wonder why we extended his loan, when it was fairly obvious he wasn't quite cutting the mustard!

Good luck to the lad, anyway.

If he is worth £750k then John Marquis must be worth 3 times that.

We will never know with Rodney but if this scared of DF is true then we should see those young players, that are left, play with more freedom under the new system.
