I like the total non BS non sound bites of it all.  Very positive, looks like he wants to give every player a go, very refreshing...

Can't help but like the guy, I spoke to him before the season started and some of the things he said he wanted to do, we are doing. Loved it when he said about Beasts goal and what it ment to the fans v Scunny. Big thumbs up to what he said before and said in the interview, about were a squad it's not just about one player.

I have the feeling that GM, with a patient board like ours, could be an absolute revelation. I know it’s early days but I think he has the right mix of insight and steel. He handles himself very well in interviews. No bullshit. Has a vision and does his homework.

Someone who watches 46 videoes of Rovers 2017/18 season is someone you can say does their homework, definitely. Poor sod must have been bored to tears. Well done Grant that will have been one hell of an endurance test. Got the job on that alone I would think.

Interesting to hear him say that Blair does' nt want to play RB and that it's not his position when he was used as one a hell of a lot under DF.

It was f**king obvious to everyone other than Darren Ferguson that he isn't suited to that position.

Wing back and full back are completely different positions but I agree he’s better suited further up the field. The right of the front free would be his best position in my opinion

McCann brought him on as right back on Saturday, but there were reasons why as he explained. So it’s not always as cut and dry as square pegs in round holes

But it's at least positive that he acknowledges that Blair is at his best further up the pitch.

As you say. There was a reason why Blair went to RB.
At least he didn't start there.

No but even if he did one week if mason was injured or if he thought he wanted the full backs pushed right up, there’s always reasons why

Gaz, only when you have positional sense, and don't get squared up when attacked face on, I can't remember many times when he was taken on, him stopping many crosses, or the man not getting past him in the last two seasons.
As a winger he is a good player, and showed last weekend he can be a danger in the oppositions half, in our half he can be a problem.
At Southend he got squared up in midfield once or twice and gave a couple of free kicks away in dangerous positions, just let's stop experimenting with players and play them where  they are comfortable, it could end up a successful novelty compared with the last couple of seasons.

That’s down to coaching
Pep is best coach in the world so players know what they’re doing in new positions, Strachan and Ferguson aren’t the same level of coach.
Maybe McCann is a better coach,

Copps was good in central midfield under Ferguson when many thought he would be useless

Blair played right back for us first of all in League 2 and looked ok there. Less so after the step up in class.

Valencia, Delph, Young, Milner... it can be done.

They all play for teams where for the majority of the game they are going to be in possession and attacking so its a bit easier, although Young was doing a lot of defending for Jose

When the player is about 28 yrs old, it is not the learning part of their game that is the hard part, it is getting rid of the poor bits that are hard.

Yes very impressive interview. He comes across as knowledgeable, composed, committed and clear about what he wants and how to get there. Clearly a breath of fresh air and a very good appointment by the club. A big well done to those responsible for bringing him here.

There is a massive difference in Premier league players and league 1 players.
The more ability you have the more you can adapt.
I was always tought KISS Keep it simple stupid.
If we play all our players in positions that are to their strengths then we will see a very different team this season.
