I'm thinking of going to Coventry on the train. I've never been before, so could someone answer these questions please?.

How long is the journey?

Is there just the one change at Sheffield, or is there another at Birmingham?

How far is the Ricoh from the station?

Answers will be very much appreciated.

Getting to somewhere like Coventry is so much easier on a Supporters coach than rail. Yes I think 2 changes will be required at Sheffield and Birmingham. Then you have to get to the Ricoh.
Lot of faffing about if you ask me. But it’s a personal choice.

I vaguely remember there being a story about them bizarrely not using it on match days, is that true?

That story sounds familiar to me as well Red; to be honest, the more I hear about this journey, the more I'm inclined to give it a miss and go to Charlton instead. I love my days out in London.

0958 out direct train 1hr 55m.
1758 return direct train
Not too bad that but cost around £40 where as on coach will be under £20

Last time we went 2 changes, Coventry station is miles away from the Ricoh. We had a taxi to the city centre, Wetherspoons near bus station, then a bus out. On the way back the bus went from the other side of the Tesco superstore (we had to find the stop) as the buses outside the stadium don't allow you on with the tickets we had. Finally taxi back to station from bus station - thank goodness there were 4 of us-nightmare!

Hi guys.

The Ricoh is one mile from m6J3.   It is approx 3 miles from train station.

Usually bus runs from the station.   Or you could share a taxi.

Last year trains ran from the station to the Ricoh station for wasps games.   They havent run this year.

As coventryrover said, the Ricoh is a long way out of town and far from the train station. There is a small station at the ground but trains don’t run there on match days  :headbang:

For those asking, yes, I believe you’ll need a change at Birmingham New Street at least. Depending on timings you might need to change at Sheffield too. Trains to Cov from Birmingham New Street are very regular (trains to London Euston or Northampton should all stop in Cov) and run at least every 20 minutes. If you’ve not been to New Street recently, leave some extra time for your change...I still can’t fathom getting between some of the platforms it after they rebuilt it!

Once in Cov, from the main train station I think a taxi is your best bet. There’s certainly plenty of them and if there’s a few of you, shouldn’t be too expensive (can’t remember exactly but around £10-£15). Fair few Ubers around too if you want an idea of your fare on the day. Just be aware the uni has an open weekend so there’ll likely be a fair few prospective students and their families around (reasonable hotel rooms have long been booked up if you were thinking of staying over).

For those that might be interested, there’s a brewery tucked away about 5 mins walk from the ground that is open for a couple of hours both before and after matches https://www.dhillonsbrewery.com/ if you’d like an alternative to the casino at the ground.

Looking forward to this one, have missed not having this fixture the last couple of seasons!  :scarf:

Unless they have changed the regulations, you can’t park in the shopping outlet across from the stadium unless you have spent a certain amount in the shops..  I usually make sure I need to buy something like a couple of shirts from M&S or similar..

If you don’t a receipt just get a M&S etc bag and leave it on the back seat, unless they have the number plate tracking cameras set up around the car park

Yes it is, but if you combine shipping you would have done otherwise, it becomes very convenient..
