Spain England

Right game this. England stormed into a 3-0 lead. Spain have pegged one back. It's getting ugly. Ramos is his usual tw@t self. Luis Enrique is going absolutely mental on the touchline about every decision. They don't like it up 'em...

Enthralling game.

3-2 full time. Rode our luck at times but a great result against Spain who, while nowhere near the team they were in 2010, are still probably the best footballing side in the world.

Pickford got out of jail. Trying a Cruyff turn... Spain beying for a penno but don't think it was. Great sliding tackle to save face though.

Shows what can happen when you take your chances! How long has it taken Sterling to work that out?

This has been renamed the Wright turn after our game against Fleetwood lol

Just imagine what it would be like if Allardyce was still in charge.

Yes totally agree about Allardyce and Southgate. I dread to think what Sam would have served up for us. Wasn't an admirer of Southgate and didn't agree when he was appointed but have to admit I was wrong big time. He has done brilliantly in the way he has picked the teams, his tactics and especially in letting the youngsters come through. He is also composed and measured - unlike many of the present day animated foreign managers who play to the crowd and race up and down the touch line drawing attention to themselves like the Spain bloke did when he thought they should have had a penalty (although perhaps they should have!). Well done Mr. Southgate.

There's even more young talent emerging in the wings. Phil Foden particularly catches the eye as a real prospect in midfield who can potentially dictate games. It's an area we need to step up with Henderson and Dier currently competing for that central berth. I can see Foden making his full debut very soon.

There are a couple of others in the U21s that look exciting. Southgate has some talent to choose from and he's bold enough to bring them on.

I think you may be understating the talent available in the u21's, DBR. From what I saw of the recent Scotland game, we were on a different planet altogether to Scotland. The level of the opposition accepted, of course, but England totally dominated, without Foden and Sessignon even starting. The young lad, Nelson, looked a prospect and his free kick was a belter. I thought Beckham had run on to take it!

Very impressive indeed.

Nelson played against us for Arsenal in the EFL Cup game last season, looks a real prospect.
