Washington has already played for two teams this season hasn't he? so he wouldn't be able to come.

Well, he wouldn't be able to play, at least...

Does that rule apply for loanees, or for contracted clubs.?

It applies to anyone as far as I know. As soon as you've played for two clubs in a season you can't play for another. It happened to Conor Grant with Plymouth last season.

Leon Clarke. He's not getting a game.

Does look like we're going for it with the signings but before we get too excited it could well be a loan of a younger player, like Wilks, to be an backup to Marquis rather than out and out 1st team material who will fire us well into the playoffs. Saying that Wilks has been an asset but it can almost be a toss of a coin as to how good they are.

I think its right to go for a striker because when we had a spell where Marquis wasn't finding the net results really suffered so that backup to come in and score and push him every day in training should stop those dry spells

If we can get Washington or someone like that we'll be a big problem for everyone in this league and GM will have a hard decisions to make for the starting 11.

More likely to be Tyler Smith from Sheffield United, he has been on loan at Barrow but brought back to Sheffield United.
They could be wanting him to be tested at a higher level, and we had a good experience with Whiteman.

Could also mean we are losing players and these are to replace them,JUST SAYING!!

I actually hate the January window,ID be happy with the same squad at the end dont wanna lose Herbie or JM.

I always thought Ferguson’s statement regarding lack of funds was claptrap - the money was always there but realised it would be wasted with Fergie whereas McCann is a more bankable investment

Beestin just gone out on loan..

I said earlier on, playing 3 up front means we need 5 or 6 in the squad, especially once this window closes there are no more incomings..

We already have 6 available from Jan 1st:

Wilks (if his loan is extended)
Marquis
Copps
May
Taylor
Sadlier

One more makes 7, unless either:

Someone is going out on loan
Wilks' loan extension has hit a snag
Someone is going to be transferred out

Or

He actually does want 7.

Three on the pitch and two on the bench doesn’t leave much room for injuries and suspensions.. I would think he may want 7..

The vibe I got from that DFP piece was positive about adding to the squad, at least one more player coming in and the board backing the manager..

9 if Beestin and Kiwomya's loans aren't extended past Jan or 10 even if Mandeville comes back (not sure how long his loan is)

Mandy's loan is for the whole season; he won't play in a Rovers shirt again.

So, if you apply that logic to the middle 3, and Kane doesn't get his loan extended, we have a real problem in the engine room!

If the 3rd player is a cb, we've cured the 3 centre back problem, but we seem to be overlooking the midfield. I suppose we can sort Herbie's issue out if and when it occurs, let's hope that is indeed the case. We all hope it doesn't come to having to replace him at all, of course.

Potentially we may eventually need to rotate some players between the front 3 and the middle 3, Blair being a prime example..

What statement was that then?

I happen to believe the midfield would not totally disintegrate without Herbie Kane. Yes, we're in a great place with him but we have some good players who can contribute and still provide enough ammunition to get results.

I have a very different view to you, DBR, on Herbie. Think back to last season and most thought that Houghton was our best midfielder and he was a loan.  As much as I liked Houghton, I would say even he couldn't hold a candle to Herbie.

We Definately would have a problem if we lost him and didn't replace him with someone either just as good or near to him.

Speaking of Mandy, does anybody know how he's doing at Morecambe?

I would of liked to have seen a Whiteman, Houghton and Kane midfield in this league.

I think Whiteman is doing just fine and dandy in the role Houghton was playing. Houghton just wasn't the same player when he came back from injury. Not saying he's a bad player by any means but Whiteman has matured into the anchor role and, has a bit more to his game. That leaves, room for more creative, forward thinking midfielders in front of him, of which Kane is exceptional.

I think Whiteman and Kane's performances this season have shown that Houghton wasnt really that good to be honest. He was fine as a holding man and he excelled in League 2 for us but he didn't really do a lot last year.

Houghton was a good player for us but I'm not sure he'd be a McCann type anyway. More of a sitting midfielder than an all-rounder/box-to-box player.

Conor Washington left QPR by mutual agreement is that the same as a transfer with the 2 teams a season rule

It's irrelevant how the transfer happens. You can't play for more than two clubs in a single season.
