You mean one of those firms that doesn't really do what it says on the tin, and is a vehicle to move dodgy money through? Well I never!

Am I in the minority?  Whilst I enjoy schadenfreude at their expense, I really don’t have a big issue with Leeds.. I grew up with them being one of the biggest clubs in the country, and wouldn’t be upset to see them promoted to the premier league..

I grew up with Leeds being one of the biggest teams in the country and apart from family matters the best day of my life was when we beat the f***ers at Wembley.

I admired the side of the 60’s & 70’s after spending an evening with Eddie Gray he was humble & interesting to talk to. I loved Billy when he managed us & I went to his funeral - I think what doesn’t help Leeds is their supporters are so arrogant and have a sense of entitlement to be a top 6 premier league team - well I’m sorry you have to earn the right to be up there.

Whenever I meet a Leeds fan I ask him was he one of them who was crying on The Wembley Big Screen ? It’s a question they don’t appreciate being asked lol

I’m with you on this one IDM. Might be only two of us as the hate for Leeds does not seem to be in short supply.
My excuse is I am from Leeds and was brought up on the GREAT Don Revie side of the 60’s & 70’s
I don’t understand why there is so much bitter hatred of the club. Yes I know they have some obnoxious supporters but doesn’t every club? I know Rovers have some as you see them at almost every away match. Leeds have more than an average no of them but that is because they have an above average numbered fan base.

As I’ve posted before those 9 or so days between us beating Southend and playing at Wembley I had supporters of 17 different teams wishes Rovers well and hoping that we win ,and every one said it because we were playing Leeds United. The most hated club in Europe

No they didn’t win as much as they should have done agreed. But having a bent ref in Solonika for the Cup winners Cup Final against AC Milan ( on my 18th birthday ) 17/5/73 and a bent  ref for the European Cup Final against Bayern Munich on 25/5/75 didn’t help.
Having to play Wolves and needing to win to do the League and Cup double on the Monday after the Saturday Cup Final against Arsenal in 1972 didn’t help either.
That’s 3 trophies they were robbed of just for a start.

That team with Shankly as manager would have won far more than Don Revie did.
The problem seems to stem from when Donny fans at school were classed as inferior to Leeds fans.
I was happy for Leeds to do well in the 60s/70s because they were a Yorkshire side. I am Donny first Yorkshire second.
I was writing this before Campsall's post but it sums it up.
We also had, Bremner, Cooper, Bates etc here after they left Leeds.
You can't revere Billy without accepting where he came from.
Rodney Johnson and Steve Briggs also came from Leeds.
Some folk in Yorkshire these days are Man U but White Rose at cricket, how does that work?
Even Geoff Boycott is a Man U fan.

How many clubs had so many International players.
That’s British/Irish International in one squad. You would be hard pressed to find so many as Leeds had in the 1970/75 years.
As follows.
Sprake.   Wales
Harvey.   Scotland
Reaney.   England
Cooper.    England
Cherry.     England
F Gray.     Scotland
Charlton.  England
Hunter.     England
Madeley.   England
McQueen.  Scotland
Bremner.   Scotland
Giles.        Rep Ireland
Yorath.      Wales
E Gray.      Scotland
Lorimer.     Scotland
Clarke.       England
Jones.        England
Jordan.       Scotland
18 Full internationals in one squad all British and Irish.
The 1973/74 team was one of the most attractive teams to watch in my lifetime. Some of the football was quite sublime.
As good as Man City are now. Yes different era but that team was ONE  of the best British teams of my time watching the ‘beautiful game.’
No question (in my opinion of course.)

They had Terry Yorath (Wales), Mick Bates and Jimmy Greenhough coming off the bench as well.

And Celtic played them off the park at Elland Road and Hampden Park Paul, with all the players from one country I believe.  And the Ajax side were in a different league altogether.

Yorath is on my list Idler as he was a full International.
Yes Bates was a very good player and appearances were limited due to Bremner and Giles.
Greenhough also a good player and was in the 1968 league Cup winning team and a big part of the squad that one the League in 68/69 season.

I’ve no particular beef with the club itself. I was pretty ambivalent about Leeds until Wembley when we had to run the gauntlet of their fans after the game. They were total scum and I’d be ecstatic to see them suffer.

Do you know I was waiting for you to say that Brian. Right on cue.
Yes I was at Elland Road for the 1st leg and Celtic were fantastic that night.
Jimmy Johnstone made Terry Cooper look like a 3rd Division full back. Probably the best display from a winger I have ever seen.
The 2nd leg at Hampden i missed as my parents would not let me miss school.

Over two legs they weren't outplayed and went out on the odd goal if I remember right.
Even in those days Scottish teams would have been also ransom  in the 1st division. A cup game can always throw up the giant killing but over a 42 game season you don't finish at the top.

At what point did you see the light and ditch Leeds to start supporting Rovers?

I used to watch Leeds - on the kop - when Donny were away in the 60's and 70's. In those days we all supported local Yorkshire clubs ( I was born and bred in Thorne). Bit like being a remainer I suppose. I think we are better sticking together and as Jo Cox said about various folk in Yorkshire ' We have more in common than divides us '

Yes, similar. As a 12/13 year old my parents took me to watch Leeds regularly in their pomp from 72 to 74 and I enjoyed it. Great team they were. But when I could choose for myself, I enjoyed the likes of Peacock, Taylor, Brooks, O'callaghan and Kitchen more. When We scored it meant so much more. I couldn't get that intense joy or misery watching Leeds!

But it's not the holding company that's failing though.

It will have consequences however, but in a positive way for the EFL as it will bring an end to the arguments over the Ifollow service and the break away group.
