Tom Anderson
« on December 08, 2018, 07:02:12 pm by scawsby steve »
I wasn't there today, but it sounds like Tom was solid again. I'm the first to admit he had a dodgy start to the season, and I wasn't sure about him coming back into the team after his suspension, particularly after Mason's great display against Barnsley.

However, it's no coincidence that since he's come back in we've had 3 clean sheets.

With young Joe to come back from injury, our centre back situation looks much healthier than it did a month ago, and we might be getting McCloughlin in as well come January.

Don't dismiss lawlers contribution to 3 clean sheets on the bounce...   seems like confdence at the back is particularly high at the moment..

I agree Adam, however if Bristol had scored instead of hitting the post when Lawlor flapped at that cross, I think that he would have got some stick on here.

Granted, he's got a howler in his locker,  but then can also do a world.class save as well...

I went to both the Charlton games and in the first game I thought Tom was very poor but come the second game he was very good. We have got strength in depth when Mason and Wright get back from injury.

Anderson was excellent today. Much more like the lad I thought we'd signed - wonder what that impostor from the last few weeks was doing today.

He just might have needed games in the first team to get his game back.

Exactly. A lot of players need a rub and can't be judged on the odd game.

Aye, I could do with a rub.

That’s good to hear RedJ.
How did Cummings do?

Cummings seemed to grow into the game. Solid but not spectacular. He looked composed on the ball but our movement off the ball was very good. We always seemed to have options for a pass.

Yeah, basically what idler said. Steady, didn't do anything wrong. Always showed for the ball which is encouraging. Wouldn't be against keeping him as a second choice right back to be honest, if that's what he's like consistently of course - which I guess we'll find out with Mason being out.

Fortunately, Blair can cover as well. The only other option is Lund!

What has been good this season is that when key players have got injured (Wright, Rowe, etc) other players have come in and done a good job.

Let's just hope the entire first XI aren't all randomly injured at once and the entire second string has to play :silly:

Yeah, but McCann did say he was happy with what he had got, squad wise.

It’s great to see him go looking for the ball when defending set pieces rather than trying to man mark an opponent.  We seem to be much more  Comfortable at set pieces for the first time in ages.

He’s done very well lately. His strengths are really important to us. Pleased for him as he seems a good lad and plays with 100% commitment to the cause.

It's fair to say that joe wright aint gonna walk straight back into the side . Tom was bought as a back up CH,  but boy at the minute he wouldn't look out of place in the majority of League 1 sides... his bambi on ice debut now seems a million miles away.   Well done tom, keep.it up!!
