Let’s face it most of our concerns about the club are not on the field these days . Yet I don’t remember anyone asking about the price or standard at the food kiosks or the PA system  etc . It never seems to surprise me that we always seem to have these meetings when we’re on the up . McCanns only been the job a few months and he’s having answer questions on why we can’t defend corners etc. I followed the event via Twitter as the last time I went JR was preaching about how high our budget was and it was the best group of player ever assembled. We got relegated that year and he left the next .

You do realise they do them every six months or so and have done for a number of years...?

Just on one point made above, surely the club will need to do something about the PA system to host World Cup games?  It’s absolutely shocking and isn’t much better than what we had at OBV. From where I often sit in SW corner you literally can’t make out a word that’s being said.

The main things that came out last night I thought were,  the board had a meeting with the manager yesterday and the chairman said that they were confident they would be able to back his requirements for next season.
In spite of our cup exploits and the prize money won, the board will still have to subsidise the club with considerable amounts of money each season, although with our commercial success at the moment the amount is being  reduced year on year.
On the player fitness side, Tommy Rowe is not yet 100% but is getting closer although needs managing, the manager also stressed what a great player he thought he and Coppinger were, and important to the group.
Wright he considers now fit ( probably now to join the first team group) and I think he said that Whiteman was fit, although I didn't hear clearly perhaps someone else can confirm.
The club feel that there is much more they can do to form partnerships with sponsors that can improve our off field profile  and of course income.
The announcement of our main sponsor  whether renewed or a new one they did not say will be announced in the near future.

Ben Whiteman declared his own fitness in his prematch interview yesterday.

For me it underpins the Owners desire to  contribute financially year on year to give us every chance of success on the pitch and  keep looking to improve the infrastructure off the pitch.

I really believe we have a great opportunity to move the club up another level this season. Coping with all the challenges the Championship will bring is nothing new to the owners and CEO. We have a very shrewd and well prepared manager who I believe has the same inner belief as SO'D and perhaps McCann has a mix of SO"D/RO"K characteristics about him.

We may have to settle for the play offs but I believe McCann and the players can deliver.

Much as I’m delighted with how we are performing this season, “we mighty have to settle for the playoffs” is a bit arrogant is it not? We’re not even in the playoffs as it stands - I’ve no doubt we’re capable of getting there but let’s not count chickens just yet.

I think it was a bit tongue in cheek, and a bit to reassure fans we wont settle for underachievement, Nick.  He actually said we are still trying to get top 2.

Just seen the vid of the meet the owners and I know Steve. A bit surprised with his stance. I'll have a chat with him next time I see him.

Qualifying for the play offs would be an outstanding achievement. Anything beyond that would be a further bonus.

It's been a thoroughly enjoyable and productive season whatever happens from here.

My comment was in response to DBR, Rob. I wasn't at Meet The Owners last night but thought I read somewhere that McCann said something along the lines of we're trying to finish as high as we can and the top two isn't out of reach, which is fair comment.

I have just seen the recording of the meeting on I follow .I was struck by the warm friendly atmosphere the much improved quality of questions these days and by the professionalism of all repondents . The work of the Club Doncaster vFoundation is making this a club to be proud of as a Doncastrian. As an expatriate for 50 years this club is my only connection with the hometown of my childhood days and I try to be as much a part of it as possible from afar both with financial support and through the internet This forum is a vital part of all that and I follow now allows me to see all games live  . Watching the recording of last night’# meeting fills me with pride rto be part of the community of DRFC.

Me too. Miserable t**t he was/is.

Grant again came across well and Blunt again stated they still don’t know why Ferguson left.

Really passionate answers from TB and AW about their love for the club and town.

Yeah but their aren’t football people 😜

Some fantastic answers and good to see John and Alfie on form and hearing from some of the staff behind the scenes and also how much the board actually gets involved with

Aye, and we were doing shit at the time that was cancelled weren't we... oh, maybe not. 1) doesn't really back up his point and 2) we've held them when the club has been doing much worse. He's clearly trying to make it out to be an arse kissing exercise.

Of course someone's moaning about MTO...hardly any clubs in the country do these events, they're such a good way to make supporters feel valued and listened to and we should all be glad the Rovers have made it a regular part of the season.

They could run an initiative where they hand out free money to every supporter at games and I'm sure someone would still moan. Some people just can't accept positivity.

"Why are they not spending this money on the squad rather than give it to Kitsons like me?!?!?!?!"

I used to enjoy these events but now find myself squirming in my seat at some of the questions.
Somebody yesterday said he had a question for the manager or chief excecutive and then proceeded to complain about the sprinklers wetting people and wanted to know why.

Think some folk feel the need to say something if they have driven out there. Just wish it was something more considered - unless it was something they have been considering, in which case probably best they didn’t come.

I'm quite positive the only thing I will say is that the Belles potential takeover is taking ages and always seems to be interesting how they talk about it, like it might not be in the same entity as Dons or Rovers?
