Lirak Hasani

I wasnt there today but apparently he did well when he came on, what did people think? 16 years old...who was the last 16 y/o to turn out for Rovers, much less in a league game? Holding midfielder according to Free Press as well, so that explains his sudden elevation to the first team.

Did well, demanded the ball at times and played a couple of neat passes.

remember it well it was Ian Snodin remember reading the match report of the green un after Ian made his debut at Aldershot I thought the game was goalless but it looks like Aldershot won 1-0 on checking

http://stats.football.co.uk/head_to_head/doncaster_rovers/vs/aldershot_town/index.shtml

this must be it

1980/1981    Sat 10 Jan    Doncaster Rovers    3 - 1    Aldershot    League
Sat 25 Oct    Aldershot    1 - 0    Doncaster Rovers    League

the point is the Aldershot reporters took the pi$$ out of Ian pre-match when they saw this "little squirt" (words like that were reported in the green un bandy legged or something)  and they soon changed their mind when he got stuck in -- never forget reading that in the green un from memory he was 16  he was born on  (Born 15 Aug, 1963) which suggests he was 17 but i believe he was only 16 ????????

I thought he looked assured and confident. Potentially a real talent. I take it he came out of the you set up

Ian made his debut aged 16 in March 1980 coming off the bench in a 1-0 over Bournemouth, Billy Bremner turned out in that match in a bid to stem a bad run of form. Shaun Flanagan scored the goal late on.

The Aldershot match came the following month in which he came off the bench to score the equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

When he came on he looked more settled and assured than some that had played the whole match

He is a Cantley lad who played for Bessacarr FC with my son. He has always been a good player however he has improved greatly since joining the Rovers Academy. He is a great kid & also a very grounded individual but with a real determination to succeed in the game.

16! When was last time someone that young played for us? Possibly a few sacrificial lambs in 97/98? Maybe Dino Teldaldi? All of these mind in tier below. Good on him.

Alick Jeffrey was the youngest to make his debut - aged 15 years, 229 days.

Aren't most Kosovars ethnic Albanians? I hesitate to get involved with the Balkans. It makes Brexit seem very simple.

From what I understand he can play for either England, Kosovo or Albania.

Ita great to see a local lad in the team and I really hope it works for him as it will send a huge message out to the best players round here.

Also on a non football point of view, how good to see a family from what was a troubled area having some potential huge footballing success in the area?

According to Bluff and Watson book Ian Snodin made his Rovers debut as as sub against Bournemouth on 29 March 1980 when he would indeed have been 16.

Is there a list of the youngest players to play for Rovers in the Football League? Hasani must be one of the youngest for a while?

One for the stattos but I wonder if the age gap is some sort of record for a replacement sub.

In all honesty he wasn’t on long enough for me to make a judgement, albeit he didn’t look out of place..

Lirak certainly looks to have the attributes to succeed. He's a big lad for a 16yo and he isn't afraid to get stuck in.

Thought he did well wasn’t scared of a challenge and nearly put a great ball though on the edge of the area, hopefully we can get to see more of him as he’s one of our own

I know he's a first year lad but we need to get him on a professional contract as soon as we can. Other clubs will have noticed a 16 year old getting into the first team - and not looking out of place.
