Very sad and another footballer who suffered from dementia.

I remember seeing something on Facebook about how the staff as the nursing home were treating him like a pop star because of his Rovers past. If I remember correctly his best friend was Charlie Williams.

I'm sure he played against us for Rossington MW in the Doncaster Sunday Leaugue about 1966/67.

I lost my dad on Thursday, a lifelong Rovers fan, his first game being in 1953.

One of the last things I said to him was go up there and put together a Rovers eleven.

Sad news 1879. It would be fitting if we could manage to go up for him.
It's always sad to lose one of the Rovers family.
The likes of Man U that have 60,000 at their home games and millions of world wide armchair fans won't miss losing one like we do.

Reece was at Gainsborough Trinity in 1966-67 as they won the Midland League , also in that team were ex Rovers John Billings , Jim Kilkenny , Billy Mordue , Bob Rooney and Fred Taylor .

As I recall (he used to coach my dad, so this is all a bit second hand) but he turned down the chance to go to Liverpool because with a young family it made more financial sense to go part-time in those days. I think he wa a bit of a legend at places like Wisbech where he broke all sorts of scoring records. Obviously playing at a level way below his capabilities but often played in front of 10,000+ crowds in those days. A different world.

That could almost be a Rovers reserve side.
I could be mistaken then Highland unless it was in the pre-season friendly at their place on a Tuesday night. He might have played to help out or as part of his fitness plan. Then again I could be wrong. Did he sign for anyone in the Sunday league later.

Pre season 66-67 Rovers beat Trinity 3-2 at Northolme , Rovers fielding a weakened side apparently and Trinity the same . Don't know if Reece played in this game but he did play pre season against Burton Albion and scored .
( He had been Trinity's top scorer in 1965-66 .)

I played for Jim Kilkenny in the old Yorkshire League and remember one game when I got knocked unconscious by Billy Mordue’s left elbow.
Happy days.

Jesus. How old are you hound?
I remember Paul Buck who played with Rovers intermediates selling Billy a Vauxhall Viva van for his painting and decorarating business.
On delivery Billy argued that he had paid for one with a heater. They were optional extras in those days. That would be 66/67.
