Think Barnsley will get that second place especially if Sunderland and Portsmouth draw next Saturday

It is up to us now, we have three games to play, play well and we are more than capable of getting over the line.
We need to get behind the team, help them get over the line, no one is going to lay down for us,only 100% concentration and effort is needed by the whole club, players, management and supporters, I believe we are good enough, then it is start again with everyone from scratch.

Sunderland have really blown it, they were  level with Barnsley with 2 games in hand, that's gone by the way side... let's hope the mental side of the game creeps in when we meet them in the play offs...

If we face Sunderland in the playoffs they may relax as they have beat us twice in the regular season which could be a good thing for us if we win at home then loads of pressure on them at home just need to keep it tight.

Onto Peterborough we just need to match them until season end then last match we can relax and enjoy for the first end of season for a little bit until playoffs

I’ve been going back and forth on who I’d like if we secure sixth spot. I had fancied Pompey but to be honest, I don’t care now :) I think we can give anybody a game of we’re at it.

Assuming we keep our nerve and make 6th place, whoever we get in the play-offs will have got something pushing 20 points more than us. That'll be one of the biggest gaps ever, I'd guess, so we will need a decent slice of luck to have much of a chance.

But, it goes out the window in the play offs.  Leeds must have got a fair few points more than us when we beat them?

It'll be tough and we are massive underdogs going in to potentially the play offs but anything can happen.

Let’s just WIN tonight first because if we don’t then it is going to get very very nervy indeed.
I really don’t think the play offs should be an assumption just yet.
Seen too many cock ups over the years.
Having said that if we turn up tonight, which i am confident we will, then score early and we might well get 3/4. Here’s hoping anyway.
Just don’t think anything should be taken for granted.
Remember we came 3rd in a 1 horse race not very long ago.
Just pleased we have a manager who i am confident will not let something similar happen.

There are some getting ahead of themselves on this thread. Tonight is anything but easy and it depends what team turns up as we didn’t get off the bus at Sunderland.

We finished on 80 points, Leeds on 76 but of course they had a 15 point deduction so earned 91 points in actuality, so yes a large disparity.

I'm not sure points differentials have ever really had a bearing on Play Off games. We're going to finish 20 odd points down on Luton but we beat them earlier in the season, we also got two draws against Barnsley, and Portsmouth, and should have beaten Charlton. We have proven we can compete with these sides even if we haven't managed more wins.

Interesting looking at the past years and it does show that league position doesn't have that much bearing on the winners (4th seems to be the place to be).  I did read an article a while back that form going in to the play offs (IE April onwards) is a better indicator of a potential winner.  In League 1 at the moment that would be quite tough to do as pretty much all of the top 7 are consistently picking up points (even we have 9 pts from the last 4 games).

2018 4th
2017 6th
2016 6th
2015 3rd
2014 4th
2013 4th
2012 4th
2011 4th
2010 3rd
2009 6th
2008 3rd (Doncaster though with Leeds pts deduction 4th best in terms of pts scored all season)
2007 3rd
2006 5th
