1) Take Coppinger and Whiteman out and there is no-one in the squad to calmly control possession.
2) I've desperately wanted May to succeed but I've finally accepted that it ain't going to happen. Sadlier is twice the player that May is and it is bordering on sabotage that McCann player May ahead of him for 90mins in the past two games.
3) Tommy Rowe has lots of positives but either he doesn't know how to play in a McCann side or McCann has no idea how to accommodate him. That second half performance tonight was excruciating, just when you needed your captain to lead by example.
4) Despite the sickeningly bad performance, that little moment in the second half where Marosi had that thought bubble that said, "I'm coming for this one....f**k! NO! FRIDAY!" and Blair headed the ball onto the crossbar is the funniest thing I've seen on a football pitch since the Radio Hallam Pushball Apocalypse.

Forgot No5
Herbie Kane, for all his abilities, has a lot of growing up still to do. He's had 90 mins in the past two games as the deep-lying playmaker and has looked like a lost kid. No comprehension of what that role entails, which is picking out simple 10-20 yard incisive passed. Instead he's tried to conjure up the Hail Mary miracle passes. It's really emphasised the quality of Whiteman in that position.

I agree with all of this and have said as much for some time. Rowe is an excellent, technical player but for a man of his talent and experience, goes missing far too often and lacks consistency. May is a complete mystery to me, absolute mystery. Marquis is a fine player but if we have literally no other option to challenge him for that central striking role then consciously or sub-consciously he is going to know his place is assured however he plays. Smith could be a good player or could not - either way we wasted a loan spot at Christmas by signing a player who is never played. Much better to have got either a central midfielder or central striker. Crawford - plenty think he is our most talented midfielder but like Rowe, goes missing too much and does not have presence to impose himself in League One.
Other than that!

May’s not a mystery at all, he’s just not good enough. The mystery is why he keeps getting picked.
Couldn’t agree more about Smith - a completely wasted loan.

Make that 2 wasted loans, as Lewis isn't good enough, either!

Rowe is a wide player imo but we seem to try play him in a central position which demands more consistency an to do the basics which has never been his game. Agree on Herbie he just needs to concentrate on the simple things and he'll hit form again.
