Team Tomorrow
« on May 16, 2019, 08:27:44 pm by StocksArmy »
Not sure if this has been done but anyway.... we need to surprise Charlton tomorrow in my opinion. If we go 4-3-3 we lose.

3-4-3
Marosi
Anderson
Downing
Butler
Blair
Andrew
Whiteman
Kane
Coppinger
Wilks
Marquis

Very much the formation Charlton used in the 1st leg. We have to get the delivery into the strikers right and work harder than we ever have to win the ball back.

Did you give us ten starting players or has Marquis been sent off in the first minute.

Yep, after reading through the don't make mistakes police, I would agree with that formation with the exception of bringing in Crawford for Kane, poor in the first leg for me.

So would you prefer people not to mention that Stocks had missed a player off his list.
After all he was saying what his preferred line up would be.

Definitely would not play 3 centre backs. We haven’t done it all season so to change from a back 4 in this match would be madness. Anyone remember a manager called Ferguson, didn’t he play 3 centre backs. Oh yes I think he did and it got us relegated.

If we play 4-3-3 we get swept aside. Predictable and no creativity.

We were doing better when we had more width
I agree we need to give them something to think about

If Lawlor is fit then he should play   Marosi not up to big matches .

Need big performance from the all, but especially from Whiteman and Kane for me.

I agree those two are key, we need the pre injury Kane to turn up, and we need to get Malik running at them

I'd seriously do that as a plan B. Solid back 4 and lump it up all the time.

He'll want to get the ball forward much quicker looking for forward runs and pace from Wilks, Andrew and Blair up the flanks. I think he might select Crawford instead of Copps from the start to try and get things moving at a livelier pace.

My concern is over egging it and going gung ho too early.

Bowter is too predictable - they'll come out at full pelt and leave themselves open for CA. They'll also be burnt out for the last 20. Easy  :boxing:

what about if they win the tie over the two legs, but the level of performance down at The Valley isn't really up to scratch, y'know - not quite as entertaining as it might have been, conservative substitutions, bit negative protecting the lead in the last fifteen minutes - that's the sort of thing that would normally prompt a torrent of abuse on here - seems a shame to deny the gloom-mongers their evening in the spotlight if that's how it pans out...

That's a good point Herman, and leads me to wonder which team Rovers fans would prefer to watch; the title winning team of 2013, or the current team. There's no doubt that the current team are much more attacking and entertaining than the 2013 team, but by God, that title winning team were so hard to score against, let alone beat. By contrast, today's team look as though they're going to concede every time their opponents attack.

I personally would prefer the Rob Jones team, but I suspect that opinions will differ on this.

Not sure about Crawford over Kane, a bit light weight.

Crawford nowhere near consistent enough. Flat track bully and this is the toughest game of the season.

I’d go 4 2 1 3 - Ben and Herbie as those two holding players with Copps as the one behind a from three of Wilks in the left, Sadlier right and John down the middle.

Whiteman and Kane need to start and both have massive games. They can be the difference.

Well me personally would have taken the mistake as what it was, mentioned it & either agreed or disagreed with the post, without the 'being sent off in the first minute' bit, but then that's just me.

Tactically I think we should get forward with width and pressure their defenders with crosses into the 6 yard box. Goals in the last 2 games have come from crosses out wide.

Agreed, play that way & Danny Andrew is a real weapon.
