The Brexit Knowledge Base
« on May 25, 2019, 01:03:45 pm by SydneyRover »
You could think this may be a very short thread with that title but I thought it would be a good idea to have all the hypocritical statements from Brexit MPs and officials in one place.

I'll kick it off with the story in the Guardian about those behind ''Led By Donkeys''

''The four men behind the nationwide Brexit billboard phenomenon finally reveal their identities – in the pub where it all began''

David jellyback Cameron must have thought he was nearing in his finest hour when he came up with this:

“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice – stability and strong government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband”

Dominic Raab
David Davis
Leave EU
And of course Boris Johnson feature too.

Led by Donkeys is my favourite on Twitter - and #trexit was incredible yesterday as well

 “Vote Leave, Take Control”

Was an oldie but goodie too by Dominic Cummings, DW.

“Coming to a free trade agreement with the EU should be one of the easiest in human history.”

Liam Fox, International Trade Secretary, July 2017.

I'm thinking this was one of the most ill thought out and brainless statements made but there is stiff competition.

“What we’ve got to do as a government and as a parliamentary party is show we are bigger than the sum of our parts. If we take a bit more of that approach – a bit more unity of purpose – we’ll get a great result out of Brexit. We’ll also unite the country.”

Dominic Raab, Departing Brexit Secretary, June 2018.

I like the bit ''we'll also unite the country'' which I thought was a nice touch, except he was completely out of touch.

I will not give up my EU pension “Why should my family suffer?”

Farage, only 8 years to go then?

It is understood the 55-year-old former Ukip leader will be entitled to an annual pension of £73,000 when he reaches the age of 63.

This was an absolute doozy from a staunch anti-EU-man-of-the-people who has already received an estimated 2 million pounds in EU salary + nearly a million from speaking engagements talking about it and around half a million from Banksy the con-artist.

Of course he backed it up in Dec 2017 with ''I'm skint''

Michael Gove, who could forget MG's role in all this.

Nick Cohen wrote in 26/6/16.

Naturally, Michael Gove, former Times columnist, responded to the thousands of economists who warned he was taking an extraordinary risk with the sneer that will follow him to his grave:

“People in this country have had enough of experts.” He’s been saying the same for years''

That's right Michael Gove anyone can put up their hand to be PM apparently.

Nick added this by Rudyard Kipling:

I could not dig; I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Thanks for that Sydney; I really enjoyed it, especially the line from Kipling "And I must face the men I slew". That reminds me of the 2015 General Election, when Nick Clegg and Vince Cable and the rest of the snakes in the grass had to face the Lib Dem voters who they'd betrayed with their treachery in 2010, and got dicked in 49 constituencies.

Wonderful golden memories Sydney. Thanks again.

I agree entirely about the LDs in 2010.

Do you agree that Farage was even more culpable in 2016 by campaigning for a Norway deal, then, after winning the vote, turning face and claiming that a Norway deal would be a betrayal?

You've missed my point Billy. I was referring to consequences of betrayal. The Lib Dems lost 49 seats because of their actions. Farage hasn't faced any wrath from any of his voters.

Thanks Steve just trying to be helpful, it looks like the scales are falling from peoples eyes as reality bites and the lib dems have been given a reprieve.

Well that tells you a very great deal about the people who support Farage then, doesn't it?

The biggest laugh is, the remain vote won the EU elections in the UK.
  Talk about denial.
