He didn't 'hear' Andrew wasn't coming, it was GM who pulled the plug, following all the protracted dealings with Andrew's agent.

One down, several more to go.

A bit of momentum at last.

Pedant.

He couldn’t get into the Sunderland squad at the end of the season. Steady player though. Proven at L1 level.

He was injured...

He was fit. And that is a fact.

He wasn't even in the squad for last 11 games - got injured against Wycombe on 9 March....

He couldn’t get into the Sunderland squad at the end of the season.

...and during that time Sunderland registererd three of the five league defeats they suffered all season.

To all the moaners , answer this hypothetical question.

Who would you rather DRFC sign .... Danny Andrew a free signing from Grimsby Town a league below us , who hasn't done anything.

Or, ex Manchester United Reece James from Sunderland , who we paid a fee for and has a promotion under his belt.

I know who I'd prefer .

Don’t understand the debate over this signing the manager decided he wanted him and he’s got him. So we will only know when we are into the league programme if defensively the two fullbacks signed have improved the side. The manager believes they will.

What? There's brilliant ex-Grimsby or lower league players and shit ex-Man Utd players. Also, there's some quality signings that are free agents and we've made and other clubs have made some shocking signings when spending money. The fact he has a promotion from this league and having played the majority of those games is the only bit that shows good pedigree to me. This isn't specifically Andrew v James. So why Jesus wept?

If you want to hear some thoughts on James from a Sunderland fan, then check out the view of Roker Rapport Podcast's Graham over at the @DRFC_ITEN Twitter page, link here: https://twitter.com/DRFC_ITEN

You don't have to have an account to view the page as far as I know.

Sounds to me like he'll be a reliable signing for us, nothing fancy but then we don't need fancy football from our full backs. Happy with it!

It seems he wants to play for us, a criteria the management want. We paid a fee for him, which we never do according to some people. He won’t fit in, he isn’t attacking etc etc.
I welcome him to our club. Seems some people are never ever satisfied. People need to get a life, grow up and support the team and club rather than constantly criticising. Or go and support another team.

What's wrong with pointing out a player that is better defensively than attacking in an attacking team might possibly not be the best choice. But like I said I've probably seen him a couple times and can't remember him so don't want to write him off.
I’ll tel you what’s wrong with pointing out anything negative regarding an incoming player that GM has secured the services of....
GM will probably have done his homework and read many reports regarding his ability and has decided he is the better left back

You on the other hand looked for negative stats from the safety of ya keyboard.....but don’t let that fact get in the way of inspired opinions...
By the way ...you certainly aren’t alone....

That's fair enough, however, like any manager he has made some signings which haven't been brilliant in Lewis, Taylor and J. Anderson. I'm not one of those people who only posts negative stuff on here, I'm a realist I know GM has hopefully done his homework and I'd love it if he turned out to be a brilliant signing. Obviously he has a decent pedigree of challenging and winning promotion in a few different seasons.

Do you actually know the meaning of the word Pedigree ?

Here it is....the recorded ancestry or lineage of a person

Quality instead of pedigree then.

Any, let's focus on the new player we've just signed...

If GM thinks he is good enough then that good enough for me.
He has an eye for a player and with the right coaching this lad has the potential to be a very very good signing.
Well done Grant and the board. Think we may have a proper full back.
In fact we have 2 proper full backs now. Are you watching DF how to build a proper football team with pegs in the right holes.
( sorry folks to bring that one up again )

Aye Mason, who proceeded to play left back, right of a back three, holding midfield, right side of a diamond. And also at right back.

He played mason right back or central midfield.

Lewis, Taylor and Anderson were not permanent signings though were they. All loans or very short term contracts.

My apologies again. I will never learn. Can’t believe any one can be so sensitive about a certain persons name being mentioned. Notice i didn’t mention name.
