Why is everyone getting up tight, Marquis may want to get away, who wouldn't if he can get a life changing move on more money. But he has started preseason training, is our player, to my knowledge has not made trouble for anyone, has never refused to play, and until the new manager and another club come in with an offer, if they do nothing will change.
If he can better himself I am quite happy for him to go if we get a decent fee for him, and if he stays he will not let us down, I don't think it is in his interests or his make up. but I cannot see the point in getting heated up before the issue  arises.

I think marquis may want to move to a championship club, simply to play at that level.

I don’t think he wants away from DRFC specifically - but by default to play at a higher level this season he would have to go.  If he doesn’t leave, why would he be disgruntled with us.?

John plays with his heart on his sleeve.
He tries his nuts off every week and I haven’t seen him displaying a mardyarse attitude detrimental to his performances.
I hope he stays.

It looks like he's going through the motions with pre-season. Not taking part in any video interviews like the rest of the players which appears to indicate he would rather be elsewhere and the club understand that.

All the comments on here by supporters are guesses at what is going off, and the attitude of John Marquis, and are doing no good whatsoever to any situation there might be within the club.
The management at the club and the player are in control of any situation  (if there is one at all) and at the moment he is our player, training the same as every other player to be ready for the start of next season.
If other clubs are interested in signing John, and John is happy to join them, then it is up to the club to look after their own  interests and get the best deal they can for the player.
It is nothing unusual in football, and as long as John Marquis carries on full filling his contract by training and making himself available for selection what is the problem.
Most people on here will have looked for a better job while in employment, and will have looked to improve their living standards and thought they could have a better life. To do that John will need to carry on scoring goals and playing well, so there is no problem there for me, and until he himself or the club make a statement that there is any problem with their relationship I am not going to guess about anything. I just want the best for both parties concerned, especially the club.

Omg - does that mean that all of the players who haven’t done an interview are going through the motions and want away?
2+2 = 5 it is then. We’re doomed....

This is a bit silly to be honest. In fact there was something put out on social the other day of him meeting a young fan at training.

Him not being in videos bears absolutely no indication as to his effort levels or desire and to suggest he's "going through the motions" because of this is tenuous at best.

Talk about putting 2 and 2 together and getting diarrhoea.

I’m sure I saw the other day that he invited a young kid to the training to meet him and his other favourite players, I wonder how many wantaway players that are going through the motions get up to that stuff. I think same as above, it’s not that he doesn’t want to play here, it’s that he does want to be in the champ, and unfortunately cannot do both this season

Exactly that.

I have no issue with him wanting to move upwards a level and being honest about it, as long as he puts his all in whilst he is here.

With his record he has learnt an opportunity and he has been superb here. I hope he goes for good money and does well, win win for both parties then.  If not, offer him a big contract with a release fee in it.
