If a woman was appointed as a reply of a robust process - that the players were aware of - then yes, they should respect the manager.

Is there any woman managers in any male league football from semi-professional football up that anyone knows of?
Times are changing and all for the better. Not so long ago there would have been uproar (from some) at the idea of a black manager. If a woman was the best person for the job, no problem in my book.
Was told by a decent source Mick Harford is being interviewed
Awww jeeez the “ ridiculous notion “ Gang are going all out celebrating there PC friendly approach to serious debate...IT WONT HAPPEN,! for a long long time.........I’m not saying they can’t be coaxed away from Corrie for a few hours to manage a footy match,...but it just won’t happen whilst there is big bucks riding on promotion/relegation issues....I wouldn’t be devastated when the time comes for a Lady to Manage a football team....but that’s a long way away....How many would welcome the rule of having 3 females in the first team squad ?

It already has happened - in the French League and the Irish league if you care to widen your view a little. To address your silly point at the end the answer its pretty obvious, no one would welcome it because there are physiological differences between men and women at a general level. Such differences have no bearing on being a successful manager, however, so in theory there should be equal opportunity for all sexes. It's not quantum physics. It being unlikely to happen is nothing to do with gender. It's the simple fact that there are hardly any female coaches/assistant managers or other similar positions filled by women.
Bullshit alert.!!

I got told last week that Michael Flynn (Newport manager) had got an interview. Haven’t seen his name mentioned in the press at all
