Still reckon it's over but it'll go to the wire at least.

England deserved it over the tournament but were so lucky today. But for that deflection they'd have come up short.
Fantastic entertainment though

It does, but when England were dead and buried they bottled it

Agreed BST but it makes a change from England teams not getting the luck ( football ) in particular.

In the same breath, no one can say tennis is shite after probably the best Wimbledon final ever.

Think that's a bit unfair Filo. It was a magnificent performance from both sides.

Not sure how they bottled it. The game was theirs until Boult took a catch over the boundary and then we had unbelievable luck with 4 overthrows off the bat to really let us back into it. We then set a high bar with the super over and Archer recovered from a shaky start in the super over.

Seems like these days bottling it is just synonymous with losing, at least in the eyes of fans and media.

Boult’s step on the boundry was avoidable, he had a team mate close by to givehim a shout, the overthrows? Well that was avoidable as well, Boult’s last over was awful, like I said, at the crunch moment they bottled it

Nobody bottled anything out there today. That was one hell of a cricket match.
For a change an England team got just about all the luck.
New Zealand can be very proud of what they achieved in this World Cup. A magnificent effort.
All the pressure was on England as favourites to win it before the start of the tournament.
They delivered by winning it so that shows how well they coped with the pressure right up to the final ball.

Like I say, a bit unfair I think Filo.

Boult had a fraction of a second to make that decision to throw the ball as he was trying to keep his balance. And there was nothing wrong with his final over. Apart from one cow-corner hoick (marvellous shot, nowt wrong with the ball) and one of the worst pieces of luck I've ever seen on a cricket field, he conceded 4 runs from 5 balls at the death.

Haha the overthrows were avoidable? He could make that throw 999 more times in the same situation and it wouldn’t turn out the way it did, it was just ridiculously bad luck. Can’t really add more than Billy has said above for the catch on the boundary or the final over.

Unbelievable. Unf**kingbelievable. I don't believe in that spiritual shite but that overthrow of Stokes' bat was something eerie. Meant to be. We'll never see anything like that again. England world champions - amazing stuff.

Yeah, our name was written on it today. I thought New Zealand were the slightly better team, and England had all the luck going, but that's sport.

I'm really chuffed for them tonight.

Didn't you lot know that God was an Englishman?😉
I would have been happy to share the trophy with New Zealand. There was so little between the teams that nobody deserved to lose. Probably the two most sporting teams generally as well.
A credit to the game and great to see it on terrestrial tv.

The way New Zealand are bowling we're going to lose this. What is it with England sporting teams? We just don't ever seem to be able to get over the line.

You were saying SS.
Totally amazing game.
Of course luck played a part but that is just how sport is.
There won’t be many champions of anything who didn’t have a bit of luck along the way.
WELL DONE ENGLAND.

Watching the highlights now - when Boult carries that ball over the boundary for 6, Guptil straight away puts his hands up to signal it's a 6. Absolutely unbelievable sportsmanship in that situation.

That's the point isn't it? What's the point in winning if you cheat to do it?

Good thing to do but he would have been "rumbled" anyway by the telly replays

Big up to both sides for a tremendous Final - and an outcome that would have been laughed at if someone had written it !
