Latest DM interview
« on July 12, 2019, 07:56:25 pm by CantleyRed »
Much more relaxed this time and I loved the way his eyes lit up when talking about the old days at OBV and his relationship with Schofield. Top Man!

Yes, nearly half an hour. Started off in "interview mode" then relaxed and came over really well.

Sounds like he will  keep the current staff as they are and bring in his own assistant. Dare I say it, but does he sound like he expects to be here for more than one season?

Sounds like he wants to end up managing the Belles and the Dons as it was all Club Doncaster rather than Rovers lol.

He has certainly understood the Club Doncaster ethic and the community based strategies fit his beliefs like a glove I read that he had a strong community commitment running through his work at West Brom

Do you mean that he sounds like he's got a long term vision for the club?

Going off a bit I remember his playing days here, it became a standing joke when MOTM was announced, more often than not it was Moore, absolute collosses at the old Belle Vue.

Good to hear he's looking at the academy too. Wonder if we've gone anywhere with the idea of becoming Cat 2 club?

Sound like he wants to be very hands on from top to bottom and far and wide.

GB says already talking to the dons and belles about joint training

I've always thought this would be a great idea. But also wonder why the Keepmoat isn't our training area too. It has room for a few more pitches and with the gym and changing facilities plus the athletics area. Ideal for teams?

Would cost a lot to flatten it and make the changes when we already have a ready made Cantley Park I guess but I do agree somewhat. For a Cat 2 academy we require an indoor training area so that could be built on that land, perhaps along with accomodation and they can have a partnership with the XP School. The indoor training center can be done so that basketball and other sports can be played there and could have given a home to someone like Danum Eagles. It would hopefully be a Club Doncaster asset so would add value to the club and if they ever did sell it would be a decent investment, but at the end of the day it'd cost tens of millions to do.

Cat 2 is def the way rovers should be heading. I just can't see them paying for it unfortunately

It isn’t dead in the water but we need to be in the championship and the money that brings for it to be financially viable

Makes me wonder whether it is worth it when bigger academies would be able to poach any prospects for relatively small fees.

I would prefer it if he referred to us as Rovers. Not that I'm not against Club Doncaster, but it isn't what we are known by.

I was thinking that. But then I thought he's probably been told by the powers that be to refer to us as Club Doncaster. Gets people looking into it.

Probably worth it in this day and age when someone like James Justin of Luton goes for somewhere around £10million. We're not gonna make that kind of money any other way.

It's great if we could get players on professional terms and into the first team squad. On the contrary, WBA have just lost a highly rated teenager to Barcelona for about £200k.

In the radio Sheffield interview he explains why he does it, basically he sees all the teams (rovers, dons, belles) the college, the college, fit rovers etc as one big club/ family as opposed to single teams.

Watching the video and listening to the interviews you can see he really wants to do well and that we actually mean something to him. Says he’s been driving around town looking at all that’s changed.

It sounds to me at least if we didn’t have the club Doncaster ethos he wouldn’t have come here.

Can’t remember which interview it was but someone asked would he have dropped to any other league 1 club his answer no, which you expect but he didn’t have to drop to us either.

Listening to gavins interview about how excited he was about even thinking Darren could come here and then we actually got him.

Never been to the meet the owners event but think I will definitely try to make this next one.

I think it is we fans who need to espouse the Club Doncaster realities..just as DM obviously has .

I would like to see a single website embracing Rovers ,Dons ,Belles and Club Doncaster Foundation activities .At present you need to open 4 separate websites .

As a start it would be very easy for each of these websites simply to have a link to each of the others.

There is a Club Doncaster site with a link to all the individual sites. I think the issue with Rovers is were working to the standard EFL template, so might not have much room to move with that.

I really hope the club aren't thinking about rebranding us. Our identity should remain as it is.
