Course for VC Forum users
« on July 29, 2019, 12:06:53 am by Bristol Red Rover »
I'm pleased to announce an upcoming course for users of this forum. For a minimal cost  it's aimed at lost souls who're stuck in the mode of pleasant discussion, reasoned argument, passing on genuine information, politely asking questions, and having a bit of a laugh. This is 2019, and you really need to savvy up.

To start off, we'll be covering:
  • How to be Billy Big b*llocks - this is first base on using a forum. Get your size 12 in the door, don't hold back on how knowledgeable you are, how many seats you use, and how to describe exactly what kind of a seeing to anyone who disagrees with you will get.
  • Forum quotes - never forget to quote the whole thread, just in case someone has the cheek to not be following your wisdom in its glorious entirety. Edit what they say to suit you, if you have enough thumbs.
  • Keeping on topic - essential stuff this. Never let an irrelevant discussion stop you from getting your point over. The more you can repeat it across threads, the more people will begin to understand.
  • Pick a few targetted enemies - follow them around the forum, and use any inconsistancy against them, or just be a trolling bully and pick fault with anything they say. And ffs, never look for where you are agreeing, least of all that you are fans of the same club!
  • Ignore the people who troll you - the ones with genuine access to information and comprehension are the worst.
  • Choose your strongest grievances and dig to the end. A player and the board in general are good starting points. The manager is always wrong - shite tactical awareness, weak interviews, his responsibility for any players poor performances. Also choose some manager from the past to glorify, this always gets a good reaction from the less informed on the forum.
  • Don't name your inside source - don't name the person who's house you bugged. We'll cover bugging more later.

Loads more as the dreary weeks trudge by, PM me for direct debit details.

That "forum tourette's" you have can be freed into the destructive rant you're holding onto deep inside. Man up!

As someone who now only supports Rovers (at the moment) from a 'not as involved as I used to be' perspective and as someone who reads this forum daily but only comments occasionally now - I'm beginning to find that it's almost embarrassing calling myself and some of our so-called-supporters 'fans' nowadays!

We have supposed 'fans' portraying themselves as some sort of hardcore hooligan crew, with the sole aim of not watching the game of football involving their team they 'support' in favour of paying 20 odd quid to show how hard as nails they are. Really?

We have people being picked up on a forum for grammar and spelling errors just for the hell of it - but not everyone, just those who one user doesn't appear to like the thoughts and opinions of. Why? If you don't like grammar and punctuation errors - correct everybody's not just the poster who you've labelled on your head as 'a dick!'

We have forum users masquerading as 'fans' who's aim in life appears to be 'bad mouth the club I claim to love at every opportunity' brigade.

We have forum users masquerading as 'fans' who simply want to come across as one or a mixture of 'smart alec, witty, condescending, above everyone, below everyone' yadda, yadda, yadda.

We have forum users masquerading as 'fans' who are keyboard warriors and lay into fellow 'fans' at every opportunity.

We have constant in house bickering between 'fans' in every other thread.

Crimey! It's a bloody game - lighten up everyone and enjoy being a supporter of Donny Rovers - as every year goes by this forum reads more and more like the forums of clubs Rovers 'fans' despise for whatever reason - I find it quite sad - one thing that always used to be the case pre social media - Rovers fans stuck together, they took the rough with the smooth, the good times with the bad, the wins with the losses, the agony with the ecstasy, the quality players with the not-so-good, the unexpected transfers in with the unexpected transfers out, the expected transfers in with the expected transfers out, the good money for shit players with the shit money for good players and so on and so forth.

At the end of the day we all just got on with supporting DRFC - there are an increasing number of times in this day and age where I wish it were still at least marginally the same!

Lol

Great set of forum guidelines! Haha.

How about learning how to spell. Like lose not loose and we're not were. I can think of others.
