Hopefully with us next season

Steve Nichol for me. oozed class , never broke sweat made the game look so simple. And that was in the twilight of his playing days,
Head and shoulders above anything, time almost stood still when he was on the ball

Russ Wilcox
Rob Jones
Chris Swailes
Matt Mills
Steve Nicol

I never got the whole Rob Jones love-in - liked him and he was vital, but i'd never label him in the same vein as the others mentioned above!

He played a massive part in that team for sure - but not right up there for me!

Sorry

He was brilliant today. Adds that bit of mobility inext to Anderson

I said that today. Anderson and John really compliment one another. Whatever qualities one is lacking a bit of the other has bags of.  That pairing has the makings of something special.

This. There's occasionally the odd mess up like when they got in each others way but they compliment each other very nicely and will only grow together.

And there were some saying we are weaker in defence this season compared to last.
not weaker just under manned two different things

Not sure how we are under-manned in defence though?

Last season - Andrew, Amos, Mason/Blair, Butler, Wright and Anderson.

This season - Halliday/Blair, James, Amos, Anderson, Wright, Baptiste and John (can also add Sheaf in to this).

That is no weaker or fewer in number, even if Baptiste is out all season.

My mate commented today that if Baptiste hasn’t got injured then we might not have seen John in the team yet.
A bit like Herbie last season?

He did get it right. He was talking about Cameron John, not Jon Taylor.

He was brilliant today. Adds that bit of mobility next to Anderson

Classic old fashioned centre half partnership. Anderson goes up for everything, John drops in cleaning anything Anderson misses. You can see why Wolves rate him so highly

How many times have we won a Tier 3 title in our 140 years?

3 is it?

Once since Tier 3 went national?

That season, Rob Jones DEFINED the side. It was built in his image. He wasn't half the footballer of some of those you list, but f**k me, he was 5 times the Mester. He never once let his concentration slip, until that moment at Brentford, where 10 players are celebrating in the away terrace, and he's curled up in a foetal position in the centre circle.

He set the standard that made an ordinary bunch, extra-ordinary achievers.

An all-time Donny Great without any question whatsoever.

Cameron John is f**king brill, mind.

For a young lad who's started and played just 2 league games in his life he's been excellent!

I'm just glad the VSC have sponsored him this season!

What about Aaron Lewis and Paul Downing? And the fact that both Baptiste and Wright are injured?

Cameron John looks some player, but, at the moment, if either Anderson or John get injured or, God forbid, one f them get red carded, then we’re in deep do-do!

That is a fair point about Downing but he only started playing for us in February. Likewise Lewis, who we only played after we Mason went.

Aye but we didn't have them at the start of the season, did we? we're not in January yet, how do you know we won't recruit then.

One incident first half summed him up for me, ball down their right, Walker went wide John followed took his time robbed him, out for a throw in flattened Walker in the process and just gave Walker a big grin whist standing iver him. He'll do for me

You can't really count Downing and Wrigyt separately though, as we never had the pair of them fit at the same time aside from the Charlton away tie in the Play Offs. Downing was only here because of injuries to other defenders.
