It won’t happen.. they’re Bolton.. ex premier league . Now if it were a smaller club for example .... the EFL are a complete shambles

It applies to Bolton as well.

Quite surprised by this but you know what, the EFL have finally grown some balls and are saying "enough is enough". This division is being made a mockery at the moment and it needs sorting.

Presumably if this were to happen their previous results would be expunged and we can kiss goodbye to those 3 points.

Well yes but I'd rather that than we'd played them, beat them 5-0 then had it taken off of us.

Of the two, I think Bolton are more likely to go under. There seems to be no deal in sight and their fans seems to think liquidation and restarting again would be the best thing for their club.

Not sure. The EFL have given Bolton some wriggle room in that statement.

Complete the takeover OR provide a credible plan to show they can complete the season.

Define credible!!??

Maybe they want to see evidence of a crowdfunder.

So Wycome and Ipswich would both be back to 8 points and Coventry would lose a point and be on 10 overall?

Can't they sell signed photos of local celebrities, like brothers Vernon and Peter Kay?

I suspect the Takeover will go through on Monday as Ken Anderson will become even more of a hate figure if he doesn't agree to the terms. It's still not clear however, who is taking over and whether their interest is really in football or the hotel business so there's plenty of questions yet to be answered.

The EFL then may be put under more pressure by giving Bolton opponents to date an advantage if the results then stand.

All joking aside, this is serious for the clubs and for the EFL.

The EFL cannot let a team unilaterally decide they aren't fielding a dlteam without there being serious repercussions.   I would expect as a minimum, once the Bolton takeover goes through, a large fine and a further points deduction. Whether we end up with the points or a rearranged fixture is in the lap of the gods, I think.

I think it’s a fair position from the EFL. The admin/buyers need a kick up the arse because they sound like they’re taking the piss and its causing more disruption to the league.

The 3 points pretty much every poster on here has been begging for/thinks we deserve.

I'm going to say something daft here but I feel for now we're better off without them. Well....at the very least let's say I like our league position - just bobbing along nicely under the radar and doesn't put too much pressure on the lads.

If the EFL could give us the 3 points sometime towards the end of the season that would be grand.

We only need the 3 points awarded if Bolton survive.  If they don’t, the other results are expunged.

I got a reply from the EFL to my email of last week regarding our match at Bolton, all they said was they were unable to comment further at this point.

My issue isn’t with Bolton - in many respects I hope they can survive even if at a lower level - it’s more at the current inequality we face compared to other league one rivals ie Tranmere and especially Ipswich.

Some of the comments from Bolton fans on twitter have drained most of the sympathy I ever had for them. Blocked two earlier today. Hope they continue to exist in some form for the good fans, I'm sure they must have some somewhere.

In future this sort of deadline should apply to all clubs and be fixed on a date before each season starts.

If you can't prove that you can complete the coming season, then you're out.

We can't have this circus happening again, not knowing whether fixtures are actually going ahead from one week to the next - especially as it unfairly affects clubs who play by the rules.

Playing only those teams that will beat us soundly, if it someone who can possibly make double figures we will claim injuries and not turn up. Good enough for the EFL.

It is worth remembering that we are a sensible, well run and managed club, seeking to make prudent decisions - but we are still reliant on our owners to put in £2 million each year. Should that end for whatever reason then we are rapidly heading towards same position as these guys. Perhaps not as abruptly but take £2 million out of our annual spend and see what that would do to the squad.

Another report confirming the same. Whether they will be allowed to play in this 14 day notice period is unclear.
